Sorry to hear you are going through this. Holding good thoughts that you’ll find something better fast.
Am a little confused though. I get the company eliminating your position as part of restructuring, that happens. What I don’t understand is them not offering you one of the new positions they are hiring for. It seems the way that a company who takes care of their good people would handle things. Perhaps this is part of the universe’s nudge to move you to a better company that actually appreciates you?

What do you sell? What's your background and what do you want to do?

Bart: Alright, we'll settle this like men, with our fists.
Hedley Lamarr: Sorry, I just remembered . . . I am armed.

That's tough. Good luck and hang in there.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." I agree with the hive. Sales people who out produce their piers will have no issues getting a better position shortly.
As was asked above what field are you in and where in NC if you don’t mind sharing.

So many times new leaders have to make drastic changes to try to justify their existence. The job I retired from would shift managers on a biannual basis. Keeping everyone on their toes. There’s nothing better than shifting a new boss into your department that doesn’t know shit about what you do!
I wouldn’t be surprised if someone from your company reaches out and offers you a job, maybe with better pay! Sounds like you had a lot of happy customers that may be asking what happened to you.
Meanwhile, can you reach out to their competitors? Finding good help is very difficult, with your record, they might welcome you!

Sorry you’re going through this. Wish you the best!

Very sorry to hear that for you. As stated, many times new leaders feel the need to make drastic changes or make way for their loyal cronies. It’s typically serves as an indicator for me to pay close attention to the leadership traits on the leaders I hire. As for the job elimination… that’s HR speak for we don’t want to be sued for letting go of a person that has not underperformed. I too am in sales and sales leadership, and came to the conclusion years ago that I was just a hired gun. Two things I will leave you with. One, there is a real lack of skill set in sales which should bode well for you when hunting for a new job. Too many people have forgotten that people do not buy the features of a product, they buy the benefits of the product. What will it do for them! Second, you are more than a job/position. We all have a tendency to define who we are by what we do. Go out and work your network. Give the members here an idea of the industry you work in even if you don’t want to be real specific. You may find people here that can help.

That's a tough one. I am praying for comfort and for God to provide. As other have said, I believe God will provide and you may very well end up better off in the long run.

I am 68 and was laid off last June after 28 years in Telecom. My position was "back filled" by offshore labor and I went without a job offer over 6 months. In January, I got an offer out of the blue from a wonderful company, doing the type of remote support that I had been doing. I now realize what a blessing it is to be out of sweatshop atmosphere where I had been, and to be working for a US company that values employees and customer service first. Keep your chin up, be faithful and things will come around.

I'd look at the bright side of things.

Sales are typically the last area they cut. Because increase in revenue typically solve other problems. So, things may be amiss somewhere.

Might be a blessing in disguise for the long term. But yeah, it sucks to have it happen so suddenly.

I will say a prayer for you.

It's a really tough time right now for many companies, I just dodged a round of layoffs the week and another round two years ago, unfortunately a lot of others did not to include the CFO. Many companies are having to restructure, amongst our cuts was three senior sales directors along with a number of reps, and that was just on the sales side of the house.
The good thing is you hit your goals in this challenging environment, make sure to include that on your resume as layoffs usually involve getting rid of deadweight whereas, these days its more about cutting payroll, reducing operational costs and reorg.
Try to maintain some semblance of a work schedule as you work to get back on your feet, even if it's just waking up and putting on 'work clothes' each morning.

I really don't like hearing this, especially since you were excelling in your position and helping the company. I suspect they'll regret this decision, but I know that doesn't help you now.

My best wishes for an even better opportunity very soon!

I once suffered a career ending setback. Someone I trusted told me that eventually things would be alright. Hard to believe back then but he was right. Greater opportunities presented and with diligent work, developed into a pretty great life. I see now the setback was a good thing for us. Perhaps your setback could have a similar result. Regardless, prayers on your behalf.

And these company owners and CEO’s scratch their heads and wonder why there’s zero loyalty to a company any longer and that attitude is only deepening among the younger workers who see that they are to be looked at as only a tool, no different than a printer or a forklift Roll Eyes

Best of luck to you, take a good long break and go do something fun then get back at it.
