Oh stewardess, I speak jive. |
close race (1.5% margin) even with the drama and horrible candidate. I was expecting him to win. a less foolish-caricature of a man could have easily won that race, I think. it's cringe-worthy assholes like him/his team that make places like Alabama the butt of jokes. which is sad, as there are great many better-than-he republicans all over the state. maybe they'll pull their heads from their butts and run a better candidate next time. this one never should have been considered in the first place. this is what dodging a bullet looks like.

Some have speculated that Sen. McConnell purposely sidelined the better Republican candidate just so this would happen. The idea is that the GOP establishment really wants to deny President Trump of any major victories and having a hogtied Senate is one of the ways. flashguy Texan by choice, not accident of birth

If Moore is innocent he needs to drag the year book bitch and her lawyer to court for false accusations and defamation. Something needs to happen to give these women pause before they come forward 40 years later with some unproveable accusation and ruin a mans career. There is just way too much of this #metoo happening all at once for it not to be suspect. Way too many things in all this seem to be orchestrated to fit a timeline to reach a desired goal. That goal being to remove Trump via sexual harassment allegation. I believe things are to ratchet up against Trump very soon now. "Fixed fortifications are monuments to mans stupidity" - George S. A sad state our government is in for sure. I’m so sick of all the partisan games from the left, they will literally do anything to get rid of Trump. Trump was never my ideal candidate, he wasn’t even on my list of nominees I wanted but I voted for him and he won so let him serve. I had to put up with 8 years of the last moron, the left should shut up and live through 8 years of Trump.

Don’t be so sure... President Trump is an outsider and a threat to the establishment and political elite ruling class on both sides of the aisle. While he is more conservative, he was by no means a “Republican” he simply took that on knowing no third party or independent candidate would stand a chance. The ingrained establishment and “deep state” bureaucrats are pulling all stops to resist and the likes of McConnell, McCain, Graham, and a few others are just shy of being overt accomplices. Trump is a threat to their power and control. He speaks directly to the people and shines the light on the lies, waste, and fraud that is the sewer of the federal government. The Obamacare fiasco and inability for a Republican majority to do as they promised is proof positive that while they say one thing to appease, they do another to protect their power. Disgusting what it has come to with no ability for either side to work together or reach compromises. They are both so totally entrenched in the idea they must be each other’s rivals that they have paralyzed the process and continue to divide the nation among class, income, and racial divides. I think it is time to throw them all out on both sides, dump the perks, and get back to the business of doing the countries work instead of simply trying to build personal power. What part of "...Shall not be infringed" don't you understand???

Well, that didn't go as planned. Birmingham, Mobile, Montgomery, and the Black Belt elected an abortionist-socialist, Pelosi fan as senator with Richard Shelby's help. The write-ins would have turned the tide, thanks for that suggestion Richard! The good news is that he is only there for two years and then we can elect a real Republican, Mo Brooks. RMD <EDIT> Bye-bye Richard Shelby. Don't even bother to stand for re-election. This election reminds me of the Missouri Senate race back when Claire McCaskill got elected. We ended up with Todd Akin. Remember him? What a disaster. .....never marry a woman who is mean to your waitress.

Results not surprising given the horrible candidate. Would have been a miracle to get elected. Now at least we can move on without this yoke. And AL has two years to find a valid option now that this socialist D will reveal his true colors. Don't Panic |
I think once he'd won the primaries, he could have mended fences with the Republican establishment, and won. He kept on vilifying them almost as much as the Democrats, and that cost him. Sometimes in politics, you need to be willing to change your messaging to fit the occasion - running against Strange (a Republican insider, supported by the establishment) in the primary was a different thing altogether than running against Jones, against whom he could have used strong support from the folks who opposed his primary win. Trump figured it out - Trump is by far a better politician than Moore. Moore was the enemy of his enemy, so despite supporting Strange for the primary, Trump backed Moore in the general election. Moore, despite knowing the Republican establishment were slow learners, kept on attacking them and - no surprise - being slow learners they were not much help when he needed it. By sticking to his rhetoric from the primary, he made permanent enemies out of people who - ineffectual as they have been - could have been useful allies. Instead of help from his potential colleagues, he got promises of investigations and nonsensical suggestions to the electorate of writing in random names instead. One hopes the lessons are not lost for 2018.

Maybe Moore shouldn’t have his spokesman’s go on TV the day of the election and say that Moore believes gay people should be in jail because it’s a sin. It’s 2017 fella. That shit ain’t gonna fly anymore. Also denouncing freedoms of religion is probably not the best look. _______________________________________________ Use thumb-size bullets to create fist-size holes.

Last night one reporter had an interesting observation. It's not that so many voted against him, but so many didn't vote for him. Many simply stayed home because of their dislike for both. He also said that now the Democrats lost their one huge rally cry. Can they keep whining about Trump and his accusations for harassment? They will but with recent emails clearing showing top FBI investigators plotting behind the scenes, it took some steam from it.

What could unite Trump, McConnell, Ryan, and most of the Republican establishment? The idea that Roy Moore sucked as a candidate and a person. And that was even before the allegations surfaced. Go back and look at who supported who in the primary against Luther Strange. The above named were for Strange and predicted something like this could happen. The hard core religious right types were the ones that supported Moore all along and look at what that got us. Anyone with true principals would have looked at his record and not followed him over the cliff. ___________________________ Avoid buying ChiCom/CCP products whenever possible.

Too old to run, too mean to quit! |
Do not see it as dodging a bullet. Given the RINOs like McLame and others any major progress in the senate is done. Remember that some of the RINO assholes have been voting against Trump since his election. And how stupid do the voters in Alabama have to be to send that asshole democraP to the US senate? I seriously doubt that there is more radical person in the US and we have him now in the senate.
