Right, licking other players is common practice and accepted as "just part of the game". Roll Eyes

I wouldn't call licking another players face dirty when they forehead bump you and initiate contact.

Weird - certainly. But not dirty.

And every team has a Marchand.

I thought the lick was disgusting but the official was standing inches away and did nothing but separate them. Marchand was probably trying to provoke a sucker punch so the Bruins would have a power play. If this bothers anyone, perhaps he should stick to NCAA hockey or Hockey Europe Wink

In the NHL rulebook you get a penalty for spitting on an opposing player. Is there a difference between intentionally spitting on and intentionally licking opposing players?

I would have liked to see Callahan whack Marchand on the underside of his jaw. That would stop it pretty quick.

Marchand should have received a misconduct.

Watching Eric Haula and Alex Tuch tearing it up for Vegas makes me realize how terrible the Wild system is for letting these two players go to protect Matt Dumba in the expansion draft. Dumba is a solid NHL player but can be a defensive liability at times. He most certainly is not worth letting Haula and Tuch go to keep him. Especially Tuch he is a large guy who plays large while all the Wild big guys (Coyle, Koivu, Greenway) play small. They were to busy picking their asses up off the ice against Winnipeg to play hockey.

Tuch and Haula accounted for 3 of the 5 goals Vegas scored last night. I'm pulling for the Knights all the way!!

You punishment is too kind. I much rather see the better team playing next round. Also it's cool to see an underdog knock off a one or two seed which they've eliminated being able to cheer for an underdog that gets hot at the right time. Plus the later we play the pens the better.

I'm OK with Callahan throwing a punch at Marchand for that shit. It's dirty but a different dirty then a hit to the head. There was a time when that kind of shit would be dealt with by the players.

Congrats to the Caps!

Ah a three-peat would have been nice. And Phill Kessel is still a two time Stanley Cup Champion. Loved his trolling Toronto sportswriter Steve Simmons (with the Stanley Cup full of hotdogs).

Even though game 2 was a gift from the officials, I don't believe the Pens can win. They haven't been able to put away a lead. Usually they kick it up a notch, but it's not there and there has been minimal secondary scoring. When they had the lead, they shot themselves in the foot.

In game 2, the Pens challenged a goal for interference which was denied. However according to Rule 69.2 there should have been a minor penalty called as the Caps player pushed Murray's pad with his stick. The other was the Pens goal called back that the officials refused to make any call on the ice (no motion was made - waved off or for a goal; but claimed they called no goal) & relied on replay (everyone has seen that picture). Two goal swing that would have changed that game.

The goal was allowed as Murray was judged to have enough time to reset. However had the Referees actually followed the rulebook ( :roll eyesSmile the play would have been called dead when the Caps next touched the puck. Earlier in the season, the Pens got completely hosed by a similar call which cost them 2 goals, the Dumoulin scored that was called back & the subsequent power play goal that was scored.

quote:
69.2 Penalty - In all cases in which an attacking player initiates intentional or deliberate contact with a goalkeeper, whether or not the goalkeeper is inside or outside the goal crease, and whether or not a goal is scored, the attacking player will receive a penalty (minor or major, as the Referee deems appropriate). In all cases where the infraction being imposed is to the attacking player for hindering the goalkeeper’s ability to move freely in his goal crease, the penalty to be assessed is for goalkeeper interference.
In exercising his judgment, the Referee should give more significant consideration to the degree and nature of the contact with the goalkeeper than to the exact location of the goalkeeper at the time of the contact.

Sorry for venting, but the referees still suck.

Go Vegas!

yeah, I'm sensing defeat already unless Sully gets rid of Kessel, moves Horny back over to Sid's line, Letang actually plays defense (God I hate him), Olly plays defense as well and learns how to skate without falling, and Murray magically learns how to stop easy shots and trades in his floppy glove for a normal goalie hand.
Brassard has been a no-show. I thought he was supposed to be a playoff monster, but Rutherford was wrong.

Either that or the NHL/NBC wants a game 7 dramafest with the return of Wilson. The shitty officiating certainly points in this direction.
Then again, the officiating has been crap in every series across the league.

Praying for a miracle.

Kissel had a decent game. Letting's decision making has gone down the toilet. Two of the Caps goals were Letang's fault.

Holtby was amazing last night, the Backstrom injury worries me, especially being without Wilson or Burakovsky. Vrana played well but he puts the team at risk defensively.

Go Caps! Please, please, please no game seven.

Yes, licking someone's face, recording hand signals and using them in Super Bowls, deflating balls, anything goes with Boston fans Wink

Today, licking is violation. The other night it was not. What’s not to understand. As for “deflategate”, those threads don’t end well.
