I grew up on the Caps and Skipjacks. Wow I am digging this win.

Terrific and proud win! I saw my first Caps game in the late 70s. Long time coming.

Hats off to the Caps. They really stepped it up in these Finals. They took their game to another level.

Not my team, or who I wanted to see hoist the cup. However, they played like they wanted it. Nice job boys

Crazy. Happy for the team I've followed since Langway play without a helmet.

Crowds were nuts. Wow!

Been watching since Hunter, Pivoňka, Langway, Bondra, Johansson, etc.

Wow! We're freaking Stanley Cup Champions! Unbelievable!

Holy crap, might not be able to sleep tonight.

Congrats to the Caps.

It's about time Ovechkin can get his name on the cup. For someone to win the Hart Trophy 3 times, and not have their name on the cup previously is unheard of, so I'm glad that will be corrected.
Now has the Conn Smythe as well.

Congratulations Capitals fans. They went out and earned it and were clearly the better team.

I had Kuznetsov & Holtby for the Conn Smythe ahead of Ovi.

Looking at the playoff stats I was surprised to see that Crosby & Guentzel were tied for 5th (along w/ Oshie) in points despite the Pens being eliminated on May 7th.

Other interesting stats:
+/- Orpik was +17, Kuznetsov +12

Fleury had 4 shutouts, Holtby had 2

Goals Against Average
Holtby 2.16, Fleury 2.24

Save Percentage
Fleury .927, Holtby .922

In defense of the Conn Smythe decision, I believe consideration is given BEYOND the on-ice stats. I think Ovie's leadership in the locker room and on the ice contributed to the decision. And I'll grant that it's somewhat of a "nostalgic" decision, but well-earned...

Congrats to the Caps!

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. I can't stop smiling.

Every time the Caps are mentioned for the next year it will be proceeded by Stanley Cup Champions.

Cool

I enjoyed this year’s playoffs.
Several entertaining matchups.
The refs were pretty bad in several of the series. Many missed calls, but seemed consistent at least.

And with the Caps/Knights in finals, it was exciting as neither team had won the cup previously.

Still not sure I can believe it. After so many heartbreaking seasons. So happy to see Ovie, Nicky, Holts and all the others raise the cup.

Begging of the season we were losing games and my thoughts were good. We don't want the President's Cup, it's cursed. Don't need to clinch a playoff spot and home advantage a month or more before the season ends. I wanted us fighting till the end.

Pittsburg series scared me as they have had the Caps numbers for the last few years when I mattered. Not this time though. Once they made it past the Pens I knew they could do it.

Vegas had a great run. Fleury worried me going into this series. He's proved he can win games for his team when it mattered. Did it against the Caps in the playoff too many times. After the first game, the Caps proved they could score on him this time and continued to do so.

Not surprised at all to see Ovie win the Conn Smythe. Figured it would be him or Kuzzy but his leadership and play where all there.

Ovi skating over and passing it to Bäckström was awesome.

I’m still reeling. What a season.

I adopted the Blackhawks in 1991, and always pull for them. But the Capitals (along with the Skins) were my first real pro teams after moving back to NOVA in 1977. (The Senators had already moved so I followed the Orioles.)
