Cracker Barrel = my wife's favorite restaurant, bar none!

I'll ask her "Where do you want to eat for your birthday?" = Cracker Barrel

"Where do you want to eat for our anniversary?" = Cracker Barrel

The last four years we have ate at Cracker Barrel for Thanksgiving = what a GREAT meal at a GREAT price. Its the 2 of us, so its perfect... we now have four Cracker Barrels near us.

My wife loves the chicken and dumplings, I like the meat loaf. Around November/December they bring out a Chocolate Pecan pie = my favorite pie.

We are big fans of Cracker Barrel.

My go-to at Cracker Barrel is the chicken fried steak and these from the shop (a Philly-made fav, not sure if they are all over the country):

Agree that as they grew and as one travels - the consistency from restaurant to restaurant suffers...

But...chicken and dumplings with double mash and gravy...my go-to low carb dinner when wife’s away ! Sleep is noooo problem after that meal.

What's this "they're anti-gun" business? Confused I don't recall any ever having "no guns" signs, but I've been away for a while.

I avoid them at all costs. Bland tasting and undercooked food turned me off.

My experiance is just the opposite of this. I always end up thinking "This would have been pretty good if there was jut a little more."

But I realize 95% of the times I've been there, has been the same location. So maybe it's just the one.

Had a great experience at Cracker Barrel in Greenville, NC yesterday, so though I would share it here. The grandkids selected where they wanted to eat after a soccer game, and CB is what they chose. It was early, about 4pm, service was fast and friendly, every one loved their food, total tab for 5 people was $60 after tax and before tip (included 1 kids meal). I chose one of the new all day breakfast dishes, some kind of egg/hash brown/cheese/onion ring cassarole, and it was delicious.

I always eat everything I am served at a restaurant, leaving nothing on the plate, but my serving was so large I left about 10% of it. That has not happened in years. This was the first time I had eaten at a CB in about 2 years, the last time being the decision of a different set of grandkids. I will certainly be OK with it next time they request it.

I'm guessing that you have your Sigforum date display settings how I used to have mine (i.e. it doesn't show year). Otherwise, you'd realize that you posted in the 9/23/2019 thread instead of the current 2025 thread.

I used to really like Cracker Barrel. However in the last few years they have taken away from the portion size AND the food quality, that I'm no longer interested in going there.

What they don't realize is they make a lot of their money in the gift shop, but you can't do that if you've made the restaurant so crappy most people don't go.
