99.9% likely that he did shoot Charlie Kirk.

Unless, of course, I am proved wrong by an actual autopsy photo. Roll Eyes

I wonder, though, where they got the information about the specific ammunition; from the preliminary hearing (that they called the “trial,” which it wasn’t), I suppose. Too bad they didn’t measure the velocities of the rounds they fired. In any event, of the Core-Lokt loads that might have been used, the 150 grain bullet would have penetrated less than heavier choices.

I wondered almost immediately about the ammunition. Supposedly it was his grandfather's rifle? I wondered if his grandpa might have had managed recoil ammo. Something like a 130gr bullet at reduced velocities? It's out there on the market, and still plenty enough to kill a deer. Would have less penetration than typical 30-06. It is not unusual at all for an Elmer Fudd type to just put any ammo he had in whatever box was available.

Having seen how inept some people can be. It would not surprise me at all if some lab flunky just made an assumption about ammo just because of what box it was in. Or what box was found in the perp's house.

Also, bullets can do weird and random shit. As can ammo.

I was shooting some handloaded ammo for a 6 ARC gas gun the other day. 30 FPS Extreme Spread. 8 FPS Standard deviation.

A buddy sent me chrono data from some M193 he tested. 125 FPS Extreme Spread. 30 FPS Standard Deviation.

Now take some 30-06 ammo that was decades old, and may have been rained on, or stored in a humid garage. It could have been 3-500 FPS slower than normal if the powder was partially degraded. I have seen old actual cordite 303 British hangfire.

Ammo can do weird shit. It's also possible that the shitstain nicked the edge of the roof when he fired and the bullet was partially fragmented and had shed a lot of velocity before it even hit Charlie. Odds of that are low, but it is a remote possibility. We just don't know.

IMHO a mixed box of FUDD 30-06 rounds of questionable consistency is far more likely than some kind of exploding microphone conspiracy.

We as gun guys gravitate to the consistency of the ammo that we use.

We forget how much stupid shit the average public does with regard to firearms. I remember mentioning once, long ago, to a guy at a public range that his vertical dispersion might have been because he was using 3 different brands of ammo, and 3 different weights of bullets, while he was trying to zero a deer rifle.

He looked at me like I had three heads. I do not miss shooting at public ranges. Never again.

Well nothing in your immediate past can guide me beyond your statement. Why would you think Robinson didn’t kill Kirk?

A low velocity impact in flesh and a little bone isn’t going to cause this damage to any sort of 0.30 caliber bullet that I can even imagine, much less am familiar with. If anyone can point to an example without resorting to, “Bullets do strange things,” I would be fascinated to learn of it. And “We can’t know,” only says, Yes, you don’t know, and the lack of an explanation isn’t an explanation.

This shows how bullets typically expand at progressively lower impact velocities, and which anyone can confirm with a proper Internet search. The pictured bullets are monolithic and not exactly what Remington Core-Lokt bullets would look like, but the general characteristics would be the same.

I don’t usually read YouTube video comments, but I allowed myself to be sucked into reading a few comments about the video linked above that demonstrated the effect of 30-06 bullets on pigs and cow bones. It appears that for years this murder will be spawning theories challenging the idea that the defendant was the actual shooter. I would say “conspiracy” theories except that because we don’t have any grassy knolls, it’s not clear to me what the conspiracy would be, i.e., who supposedly actually fired the fatal shot, from where, and especially why. At this moment it seems that it’s just necessary to be convinced that the fatal bullet couldn’t have been fired by the accused, and without any alternative explanations.

That idea is full of any number of logical and factual holes, but so were all the theories about the JFK assassination, and therefore that won’t be any sort of bar to believing whatever might pop into someone’s head. The lack of any alternative explanation of how it could have happened is actually a benefit for anyone who has plenty of cranial room for whatever he wants to believe.

For what it is worth I recovered the same sort of jacket from a Hornady Leverevolution bullet from the thigh of a turkey. Shot was at 100 yds.

An autopsy photo showing a single 0.30 caliber-size entrance hole will prove that everything I believe I know is wrong. Until then I will base my opinions on the video showing the effects of a full-power 30-06 bullet on heavy flesh and bone as well as years of my own personal experience.

This is fascinating. When I asked if any of you had any doubts that this guy did it, your response was :

If you know he did it- bullet shmullet.

His DNA and his freak of a boyfriend's DNA is all over the towel. His DNA is on the rifle and on parts of the roof where he climbed up. He confessed to his boyfriend. It's in texts and his boyfriend gave a sworn deposition where he confirmed this. The rifle is owned by his grandfather.

There's video of him on the premises that day. There's video of him walking stiff-legged away from the shooting site, and now I hear that there's actual video of him doing the shooting.

I knew, even in the face of all that evidence, that among us would be conspiracy-loving, disbelieve-anything-the-government-says people who abandon common sense and say "I'm not sure he did it," but you, sigfreund, with no doubts whatsoever, are awaiting further evidence about bullets so that you can...what? What's beyond "whatsoever"?

There's no one else. There's no Umbrella Man or Grassy Knoll Shooter. No exploding microphones, nothing. This guy is guilty as shit.

This is interesting about left wing NGO's funding social engineering at Utah universities including the one where Charlie was killed.

Is there a summary of what all that is supposed to signify?

I gather that it’s intended to demonstrate that nefarious evil-doers sprang into some sort of action following Mr. Kirk’s murder, but why did his killing have anything to do with them? An explanation for the ignorant somewhere?

Did anyone check to see if there were any major solar flares before or after the event? Did Betelgeuse show new signs of going supernova? Were there any disturbances in The Force? I am so confused. Frown

I don’t recall what I was doing the day it happened, but I am pretty sure I wasn’t unknowingly hypnotized or otherwise MK-ULTRAed into having had anything to do with it myself. (Although with those wily evil-doers, one can never be certain.)

If Mr. Kirk’s spirit lives on someplace, he must at least be happy that he had such a huge influence on world events. I wonder if he knew it at the time. (I had seen introductions to some of his videos, but I didn’t even know his name before this thread.)

Let me ask you guys- and a simple yes or no with no elaboration is what I'm looking for: Based upon the facts in evidence, is there any doubt in your mind that this Robinson guy shot Charlie Kirk?

Step right up, if you please. No elaboration; just yes, I have doubts, or no, I am certain.

That is kind of a hard thing to say from an uninvolved party just gathering information from the internet. I believe Robinson probably shot Kirk with a rifle from the adjacent rooftop. Certain, no. Probably, yes. That's the stage of the legal process we are in. Probable cause has been established, and it will soon fall on a jury to determine of he did it beyond a reasonable doubt.

The short answer being, yes, I believe Robinson killed Kirk.

......

Now, the longer answer is that I am completely amazed at how society has become. Everything becomes a conspiracy. Everything is different from the story we are getting. I get that. I dont trust the news media for anything. But I am also disgusted by podcasters and youtubers sowing division for the sake of views and attention. I spent several years as a Crime Scene Investigator on a police department that averages 35 homicides per year. My last year in that unit, there were just shy of 60 (2020), and I investigated or had a part in almost every single one of those. That doesn't count all the people who survived their injuries or were self-inflicted. I was recognized as an expert in court on shooting incident reconstruction and several other ballistic and firearm related fields. I have seen people shot with just about every caliber. I have helped extract bullets from people in autopsies dozens of times. I'm not claiming to be the worlds leading authority on shootings or ballistics, but I have seen a thing or two. When I first heard of the alleged weapon being a .30-06, my good buddy said no f-ing way and I said, I have seen bullets do odd things fairly often. I know that gel tests are cool, but dont really mean anything. A neat visual to see how bullets do against each other in that particular media, but thats about it. I have seen .22lr do a crazy amount of damage and I have seen a 10mm fail to penetrate a skull. So a .30-06 causing a devastating and nearly instantly fatal injury, but failing to exit, isn't that strange to me. We have tons of data from WWII on the .30-06 and not every German soldier had their head vaporized as many youtubers are claiming.

The other theories, like the exploding microphone just dont check out at all. I also know that good investigations dont involve running to the media and telling them everything about the case before the trial. An investigation must have integrity, and not just the truthful type of integrity. It has to have disciplined investigators who gather information, analyze it, and use that information when interviewing suspects, associates, and witnesses. It really helps if you dont tell the media everything you have on day one. An example from this case was an FBI agent (it may have been ATF, I dont exactly recall at this point) saying that they had found footprints of the killer before Robinson had been apprehended. Why would you release that information? A clever suspect would have seen that news report and destroyed those shoes immediately. Shoddy investigative work on that agent's part. (A quick aside to that is that I have heard of investigators throwing out false information like that to see if a suspect would react to it. If we say we have footprints, even if we dont, and our suspect is caught destroying his shoes, that is circumstantial evidence that we wouldn't have had otherwise.)

My point is that even the so-called youtube experts have proven that they dont really know as much as they pretend to. The podcasters like Candace Owens are just profiting off of the division. The preponderance of evidence that we have been able to gather online and in the news suggests that Robinson did it.
