Cable news network MSNBC has issued a formal apology over the on-air comments by its political analyst Matthew Dowd following the political assassination of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk. Kirk, the founder of the nonprofit Turning Point USA that advocated for space to hear conservative views on liberal-leaning college campuses, was murdered by an assassin on Sept. 10 while at Utah Valley University to launch his “American Comeback Tour.” It was the first stop on what was to be Kirk’s 2025 fall tour to campuses and youth across the country. Responding to news of the shooting, Dowd, who was on air, blamed the act of violence on Kirk himself, saying it was the result of his “awful words” that represent his conservative views. “Hateful thoughts lead to hateful words, which then lead to hateful actions,” Dowd said on “Katy Tur Reports” of the violence directed at Kirk exercising his free speech. “You can’t stop with these sorts of awful thoughts you have and then saying these awful words and then not expect awful actions to take place.” Dowd also suggested at the time that it was too early to tell if it was a targeted shooting or if the single round of gunfire heard had come from a “supporter shooting their gun off in celebration.” Why isn't he FIRED! https://www.theepochtimes.com/...ion-4&loginSuccess=1 _________________________ | |||

Charlie Kirk is an American martyr and an American hero. He died for his country, and for all Americans, doing the most American of things: freely speaking and openly debating with others, up close and personal. He was assassinated for doing just that. God allowed his job to be completed. It is now the job of every good American to continue his work, expanding it exponentially, while remembering his legacy. God bless his wife, his children, his family and friends. May they somehow find peace and comfort in this most horrific of times. God bless President Trump and the United States of America. An initial arrest was conducted around the time of the shooting. However, that individual was ruled to have not been involved and was later released. A second person of interest was also released after questioning by the FBI, Director Kash Patel said on Wednesday evening. The Salt Lake City branch of the FBI established a tip line seeking information about the shooting. Officials currently believe that only one person was involved in the assassination. Beau Mason, commissioner of the Utah Department of Public Safety, provided the limited details that were available, all pulled from low-quality campus security camera footage. The email included a screen shot from what appears to be an internal message describing a weapon and cartridges located by an ATF and other law enforcement near the scene of the Charlie Kirk shooting at Utah Valley State University. "On September 10, 2025, at approximately 12:24PM, Conservative political influencer Charlie Kirk was shot and killed at the Utah Valley University in Orem, UT. Mr. Kirk was speaking at the University as part of the American Comeback Tour. Multiple SLC I and III agents responded immediately. The suspect fired one shot from an elevated position on a rooftop in an adjacent building on the campus and surveillance video shows the suspect, jumping off and fleeing the area on foot. ATF and other law-enforcement located an older model imported Mauser .30-06 caliber bolt action rifle wrapped in a towel in a wooded area near the campus. The location of the firearm appears to match the suspects route of travel. The spent cartridge was still chambered in addition to three unspent rounds at the top fed magazine. All cartridges have engraved wording on them, expressing transgender and anti-fascist ideology. An emergency trace has been submitted an ATF SLC is working leads generated by the trace. The firearm and ammunition have been taken by the FBI for DNA analysis and fingerprint impressions. Upon completion of forensics, the firearm will be disassembled for additional importer information. Multiple people of interest having contacted or detained because of eyewitness testimony and review of video footage. The primary suspect is yet to be identified. Incredibly, he was aiming this at conservatives in general and Charlie Kirk specifically. He voiced the common belief of a large swath of the country that conservatives are hateful people. The lack of introspection on the left would be stunning except for how often we've seen it, though not as blatantly expressed as by Dowd. | |||

His security team, although probably more concerned about somebody hopping the barrier, should have been visually scanning windows and rooftops. Similar to the attempt on Trump, several people noticed somebody in an elevated shooting position excluding those whose job it was to notice those types of threats. I'm sure those guys are having a really rough time themselves. | |||
