Since Kaepernick and I put up identical NFL stats last season, I’m hoping to let Adidas know I’m available to become the face of their next marketing campaign. I also took my Madden 12 team to the Super Bowl and I’ve never been back so I’m clearly qualified.

Nike wouldn't do something like this without knowing the repercussions. They know which demographic groups will like it, and which ones will hate it. They've decided that gaining traction with the demographics where this will play well (almost certainly younger) will make them much more money than the lose in sales from the demographics that are negative to it.

Colin Kaepernick:

"I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color,"

"To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder."

Nike's new brand

Nike may become familiar w the "sacrificing everything" part.

Nike kept Kaepernick on its endorsement roster over the years after signing him in 2011. He has not appeared in any of the brand's ads for the previous two years.

You forget that some moron came up with the idea fornthe movie Sharknado and then a larger group of morons (aka management committee) funded the movie. In other words, large corporations can and do step on their wangs.

I can't say I'm surprised. Nike is headquartered in Portland, one of the most extreme leftist cities in the country. They elected the leftist mayor who ordered his police to stand down while protesters trashed the ICE building.

It's a complete lie. The whole entire thing is based on a lie.

Amazon: "Policing Ferguson, Policing America"

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

I know it pisses me off but I am not a part of their target audience. I haven’t bought Nike products in years because it’s not my style so it really doesn’t matter to me.

You would think so, wouldn't you?

Major companies make boner moves like this all the time. They are just the latest.

I don't care how much they think this will 'energize' their base; normal people will drop their products like crazy. I'm betting their bottom line goes down.

Anybody have a good contact email for Nike? I wish to tell them I will never buy another of their products again as long as they have this douche speaking for them.

So Kap sacrifices millions of dollars over a handful of unjustified deaths of blacks by cops but doesn’t lose sleep over the thousands of blacks killed by other blacks. Hmmm

Meh, another company wanting to virtue signal. They don't seem to look at the last half dozen and see what it has done to their profits.

Double meh.

Yup. And, I believe that most of the New Balance shoes are made right here in the good ol' USA.

About 25% of New Balance shoes are "assembled" in the USA. That may not seem like much, but they are the only athlectic shoe maker that even nods to the domestic worker.

You can't truly call yourself "peaceful" unless you are capable of great violence. If you're not capable of great violence, you're not peaceful, you're harmless.

They think there's money to be made even, if at least the resulting news cycle referring to their brand.

Whether they're right remains to be seen.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." I think I've only ever owned a single pair of Nike sneakers, a long time ago, and I don't believe I've ever owned anything else Nike, so this is no skin off my nose.

The irony of this... coupling is striking.
