Number 62. Clean. Amazing stuff. https://nypost.com/2022/10/04/...-roger-maris-record/ "I vowed to myself to fight against evil more completely and more wholeheartedly than I ever did before. . . . Not to be that guy but how in the heck do you know he's clean.

I don't "know" but the level of testing now compared to the Barry Bonds/Mark McGuire era is at whole different level (witness the Alex Rodriguez scandal and the recent heavy suspensions handed out for violations https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/fines-suspensions/#), his head isn't the size of a basketball, and he isn't built like Ahnold in his prime. Just sayin'. Why do you think he's dirty? "I vowed to myself to fight against evil more completely and more wholeheartedly than I ever did before. . . . And the chemists are waaaaaay better than ever before about getting around testing procedures. Also the MLB quit testing BLOOD for HGH once Covid hit and urine testing is almost useless. I think you would be shocked if you saw what he looked like right after a workout instead of just hanging out with his girl. By the way Alex Rodriguez said that during his entire career he was never more than 10lbs heavier than his rookie year.

I’ll give him the benefit of doubt until proven otherwise. In the meantime he gets my congratulations.

MLB dropped the hammer on Padres player Tatis Jr. giving him an 80 game suspension for PED’s. He is One of the biggest stars in the game. I don’t think they are protecting any players.

I think you might be surprised at how big a lot of pro baseball players really are. I was at a conference in Seattle 10-15 years ago now and got into the elevator of the hotel with several guys from the Detroit Tigers. I'm 6'2" 210ish and these guys towered over me. They weren't body builder types either, just big men. ________________________________________________________ "Great danger lies in the notion that we can reason with evil." Doug Patton.

According to the onlines, this dude is 6’7” 280 so a beast of a man. I grew up watching the McGwire/Sosa race and then Bonds, and even as a yout thought all the steroids made it lame. Pretty cool of AJ, though I don’t really follow sorts anymore, I was excited when I heard about this. ...Then it comes to be that the soothing light at the end of your tunnel, was just a freight train coming your way...

That is hardly evidence at all of juicing. The reality? That pic you posted is what an average man who spends a decent amount of time in the gym, knows what he's doing, and maintains an excellent diet looks like. ~Alan Acta Non Verba NRA Life Member (Patron) God, Family, Guns, Country Men will fight and die to protect women... because women protect everything else. ~Andrew Klavan

Sosa and McGuire never tested positive either. So it took what 40 or 50 years for someone to break the Marris record but they made such a mockery of all the records that the mlb had to do a bunch of investigations because no one was testing positive. Under oath a few guys admitted to it and Bonds finally tested positive. Flash forward another 20 years of no one getting anywhere close to that record again so baseball decides to quit testing blood (because Covid ) and the record is broken in 2 years. You guys are naive or don’t understand the prevalence of PED’s in major league sports. The testing is so far behind the chemists it’s not even funny. There is a good documentary on Netflix about PED’s and bicycling and even though bicycling is one of the most stringently tested sports in the world a low level rider showed how easily he was able to pass every single test with fairly old technology. It really is easy if you have the money for the good stuff. It’s hilarious how distorted our view of the human body has become because of watching so many people on it and not realizing it. A 6’7” 280lb guy is now just an average guy who hits the gym and eats right at 30 years old. Hahahaha.

That's not what I said. The fact is you're just speculating with no evidence at all that Aaron is juicing. All you have is a picture of the guy with his shirt off, and I posit that any guy--particularly one whose job also includes weight training--can reliably look similar to that. It's especially true of men who have spent their whole lives physically training. None of that means I think he didn't use PED's. I don't know. I'm just saying that the way he looks in those pics is not evidence at all that he does. Not even close. ~Alan Acta Non Verba NRA Life Member (Patron) God, Family, Guns, Country Men will fight and die to protect women... because women protect everything else. ~Andrew Klavan

Many people have friends or family members in professional sports and will tell you that you may misunderstand how big these people really are. When you have a bunch of guys 6'2-3" or bigger standing next to each other, you really lose sense of how big the average player is. And it's not 6'7". My nephew is 6'5" 220lbs and just drafted by the tigers as a jr out of college. First thing did was put him on a meal and workout schedule to build muscle. Same thing his university did when he was a freshman. The point is that highschools are now working on meal plans and workouts. Colleges have improved their systems as well too. Kids are getting bigger and those kids with the best genes win. You seem to have a lot of inside knowledge on the goings-on inside professional sports & medicine. Curious as to what's your background and work in this area? Hedley Lamarr: Wait, wait, wait. I'm unarmed. Bart: Alright, we'll settle this like men, with our fists. Hedley Lamarr: Sorry, I just remembered . . . I am armed.

62 is amazing, no question. Not sure how many games there were in a season back in the Marris/Ruth era. How does that compare to today?

It's a great feat. PED's never bothered me and was vastly overrated, IMO but that can be another discussion. I like great hitting and great pitching so KUDUs for him.

Can we all agree it will be great to not see him interrupting every college football game this weekend for a live look in!??! You only have integrity once. - imprezaguy02

Ruth hit 60 in a 154 game season. Maris hit 61 in a 162 game season. Judge is playing in a 162 game season. Maris had an asterisk by his record for many years because the old fuddy duddies couldn’t deal with the Babe losing his record to a guy who played more games and that guy not being Mickey Mantle.
