And that’s why the hammer is an advantage. I was hoping they could hold Sweden to 1 in the eighth end then they would have had hammer in the extra end. I watched the bronze metal medal match and it just wasn’t that same without a Canadian announcer.

This is probably the most awe-inspiring moment of the Games so far - Johannes Klaebo skiing up a 240m hill faster than most people can run downhill on dry land. This is the kind of display of athleticism that makes you think, "OMG, this guy ain't human." American Ben Ogden is battling for 2nd place. It's funny to see his mother's reaction watching Klaebo turn on the afterburners. Her expression says, "Looks as if Gold is out of the question for my boy."

I think it's interesting that the french figure skating judge has not been removed. They were several points different than the other judges when france was competing with the Americans The French judge added points to the French team completely different than the other judges And was several points lower than the other judges on the American team. They are saying she had done that before. _______________________________ 'The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but > because he loves what is behind him.' G. K. Why is she an Idiot? Here’s an Olympic Athlete, in the prime of her life, in better shape than any 5 people here on Sig Forum combined. Has access to some of the best of the best in sports medicine, kinesiology and who knows what else. This isn’t her first rodeo, but she knew a while ago it was probably going to be her last. And she still saddled up. Still put her time and sweat in at the Olympic Training, time away from family and friends. Could have been out partying, instead she’s grinding. Do you think she didn’t have a conversation with some of those coaches and doctors? Hell, even a conversation with herself? Yet, there she is… on the top of that hill. I don’t see too many pro athletes playing with injuries like that, yet they collect a multi million dollar salary. I do see college athletes playing like that because they want that shot at the big game. And there’s the key word: WANT They WANT it more than anything else. They work, hustle, grind and sacrifice a whole lot more than anyone else. For that, I give her all the credit in the world. ______________________________________________________________________ "When its time to shoot, shoot. BIG UPSET in Men’s skating; Ilia Malinin (“Quad God”) falls to 8th place (no medal), and an unknown from Kazakhstan takes GOLD, with 2 Japanese take silver and bronze. I watched and he got the yips. Instead of going for it he was tentative and fell twice. I thought he was going to win gold, but it wasn’t meant to be. He’s only 21 so he will get more opportunities in the future. It was a bummer… ----------------------------------- Get your guns b4 the Dems take them away Sig P-229 Sig P-220 Combat

CPD in what world is she in the prime of her life from an athletic stance? She had a good run this last year but once she ruptured that ACL she was done. Every fucking idiot in the world who has ever skied, or pretty much any athletic endeavor knew she was done. Even her coach was telling her she was over compensating for the bad leg. She has now possibly destroyed herself physically at the altar of vanity. Idiot is a tough word but yea she made an idiotic decision to continue. Yes she wanted it. If you ask me if she has big brass ones I would 100% say absolutely. Big brass ones aren’t the same as big brains though.

Incredible and unbelievable comeback for Italian ski racer Federica Brignone. In this (painful to watch) crash on April 3, 2025. . . https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=v3yOpBCUJ6w . . .at the Italian championships in Val di Fassa, resulting in multiple fractures to her left tibial plateau, a broken fibula, and a torn ACL, requiring two surgeries, 42 stiches, and not being to walk for three months, she returned to ski race training in late January 2026. . . And won the Gold Medal yesterday in the Super G!! Beyond incredible mental and physical fortitude and toughness. Truly remarkable! Wow!! __________ "I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy."

Good thing that Federica Brignone wasn’t being advised by members here to ‘sit out’ the Olympics. Athletes like her, L.V., and many others that can overcome their injuries to become Olympic Champions are very much a part of what makes the Games great! __________ "I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy."

That's ALL she's done since she's been a kid. Yes, I will agree that Brains and Balls are somewhat inversely proportional. Ask her in 10, 15 years if she thinks she made the right decision. Put yourself in her shoes. You wouldn't do the same? And yes, in outstanding physical shape! You're not getting to where she is, at 41 years old not being in that great shape, AND being able to cover up that injury. Call it what you want, Pedropcola- Pride, Vanity, Desire, Drive... It's probably what got her to the Olympic Team all those years ago. Not disagreeing with you about possibly destroying herself physically. However, there's a LOT of people in positions that will hide injuries, overcompensate, and just plain ignore injuries to get somewhere they want to get to. ______________________________________________________________________ "When its time to shoot, shoot. Comparing that other skier is apples and oranges. It’s an poor comparison. That Italian skier wasn’t skiing on a ruptured ACL, it was torn (and given time to heal). Returning from a grievous injury and skiing on a grievous injury aren’t the same thing. At all. If Vonn had injured herself 10 months ago and came back that would be cool. If that Italian skier had tried to race the month after her crash she would have been an idiot too. Plus she’s 41. She ruptured the ACL not tore it. Coming off 6 years in retirement. Come on, this was dumb. It was very nearly inevitable. She lasted 10 seconds on her first run. It was dumb. Tough as nails but dumb. Like I said before, this was pure ego driven decision making.

Seriously? In her prime and 41. You are delusional. She is far from her prime. To put it nicely, she is just and has been for a long time. Just seeking attention. "Practice like you want to play in the game"

I ski raced for many, many years. Mainly GS, but a touch of SL and SG. SG was scary enough for me -- a couple training runs of DH was more pucker factor than I could handle. I was never national team class, but definitely knew my way around any hill out there. So many of my teammates and cohorts experienced torn ligaments and broken bones. I eventually joined "that club" with a high-speed slide into the trees. And it earned me micro-fracture surgery to my femur. Just see what that did to Bode Miller on Team USA. Lindsey is a once in a lifetime talent. Unbelievable physical condition. She recovered from a huge list of surgeries and rehab. She totally earned the DH entry at this Olympics....until she blew out her ACL. With a torn ACL, she was just fucking stupid to enter the race. There was no way she could physically handle that course. Or any course. A wise skier would have just admitted "them's the breaks", then withdrew from competition, and let a lower Team USA member have a shot at qualifying for the DH race. But no, Lindsey is Lindsey. As I stated in an earlier post, she isn't a pleasant person. For decades it's been all about her, not her ex-husband Thomas who really built the base for her world-class capabilities, not her teammates, not her coaches, not her fellow competitors. Just Lindsey. She returned to the World Cup circuit because she couldn't stand that Ingemar Stenmark had more race wins than her. With this season's wins, Lindsey is now only 2 behind Ingemar. But she's 24 wins behind Mikaela Shriffin. Lindsey will never catch Mikaela's record, and that totally cuts into her pride. She doesn't like being second fiddle, but at this time she's third fiddle in all-time World Cup Alpine ski victories. Her hubris was costly.

It should be obvious that I'm not a fan of Lindsey Vonn, but I'll state in her prime she was among the physically strongest and most talented speed-event skiers in the world. Men and women. Years ago she petitioned to enter a men's World Cup DH race, when the women's event was cancelled. The WC leaders said no. I personally think she would have done really well in that men's race -- putting a crap ton of WC men in their place. Lindsey races on Head skis. IMO among the most physically demanding skis on the market. They feel like steel I-beams to me -- I just can't bend them properly in a turn, and bending is what makes a ski work. I just never had the strength, weight, or skill. Lindsey was supplied women's Head DH skis for awhile, but she just didn't get the response she wanted from them. So she browbeat a Team USA equipment tech to use one of the guy's backup skis. Might even have been Bode Miller's backup pair. IIRC, she won the next race with those skis. So Head started supplier her with men's WC race skis. Possible the only women on the WC circuit who uses men's skis. As my racing skills grew, my coach said I need to upgrade from off-the-rack racing skis to race-stock skis -- the ones supplied to elite racers, but not national team members. My skiing improved over the years with the race-stock models. Later, he said it was time upgrade again for WC-stock-skis. Now I was too old to garner sponsorship, so I had to beg and pay for the real WC skis. I tried the men's WC stock. Shit...even the flexible Rossignol, Dynastar, and Fischer models were too much for me. Head, Atomic, Volkyl -- No way, they felt like reinforced concrete inside steel I-beams. I have no idea how anybody can effectively turn such skis. Feeling dejected, they let me demo Fischer WC women's race skis. These models were still pretty stiff, but a whole lot more user friendly than any men's skis. Fischer worked for me. So...here I am with World Cup SL & GS women's skis, and they're at my limits. I cannot fathom the strength and skill needed to properly ski Head's WC men's skis, but Lindsey does.
