The course of true love never did run smooth. Sometimes, bullets are involved. Oh well...

Imagine if she lived alone. She likely would have been the one who's dead. Good riddance.

Just curious, what state was this? That wouldn't fly in NY, not that I disagree with the outcome (I have two daughters). My criminology professor always told us if you shoot them while attempting to break in to make you you drag them inside the house before you call 911.

SIDNEY, Ohio - An Ohio father will not face charges after shooting and killing his daughter’s ex-boyfriend as he broke through their front door.

Surveillance video released by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office in Sidney, Ohio, shows 22-year-old James Rayl walk up to a home on July 31 and repeatedly bang on the front door, WDTN reports. Voices can be heard in the background telling Rayl that his ex-girlfriend, also 22, did not want to see him and instructing Rayl to go away.

A man’s voice can also be heard warning that he had a gun as Rayl pushes through the front door with his shoulder and shots ring out. Rayl was shot three times and stumbled into the driveway before collapsing on the ground.

A neighbor appears in the video shortly after and says "he’s dead" and "he’s shot" before law enforcement arrives. Authorities said Rayl died at the scene.

According to FOX News, the man’s daughter had ended her relationship with Rayl more than 18 months ago. Rayl reportedly left a voice mail on her phone the night before and then showed up at her house around 11 a.m.

Shelby County Prosecutor Tim Sell told local media that a grand jury declined to charge the father in Rayl’s death, citing the state’s "Stand Your Ground" and "Castle Doctrine" that allows homeowners to use lethal force when threatened.

Your criminology professor will not go to jail for you tampering with evidence, and that action might well go a long way against any self defense claim as your testimony is tainted.

If I had a nickel for all the times I have heard people make that statement, I would be an IRS MVP*...

That has been folklore forever but it sounds like a terrible idea.

Don't need to drag the bad guy inside, just need to make sure the police only hear your side of the story.

In my first CCW class ever, the instructor specifically told the class to never pull a body into your home, even if you shot him and they fell out of the window they were climbing through.

Yeah, that neighbor was looking to charge the guy! Of course, it wasn't his neighbors door the bad guy was forcing himself through. The grand jury got it right...we can't possibly know the intruders intentions and he certainly wasn't screaming that he meant no harm and only wanted conversation.

I remember when this happened. The neighbor kept trying to drag the Dad's name through the mud to either get him arrested or pressured to move. Real dipshit.

Reading the comments is a good way to increase one's blood pressure. I'm amazed at the number of individuals that make the intruder out to be the victim; think the father should only have shot the intruder in the leg; fired warning shots; etc. The stupidity by various commenters - foreign and domestic - is jaw-dropping.

One comment that I really liked referred to the nosey and useless neighbor as Ned Flanders. A very appropriate description for that clown.
