What are the things that you had to do as a kid, but today's 18 year old never had to do as a necessary part of life. I'll start the list

- Choose between one of 3 or 4 channels
- Adjust the antenna once the channel was selected
- Wait for the TV to warm up
- Carry 2 dimes to make an emergency phone call
- Use a phone book to find someone's phone number
- Go to an arcade to play a video game
- Use a card catalog to find a book in a library
- Use an encyclopedia to research a topic

continue......

Wow.

Fill up the car with the change in the back seat.
Use a rotary dial phone
Watch only what your parents were watching because there was only 1 television.
Waiting for the "party line" to become available so you could make a phone call

Very good one. I still remember coming home from leave (after being gone a year) and having my whole family waiting for me as I got off of the airplane! (1990)

To add - I have to believe that the airlines actually like that new rule. I have to wonder how many people snuck onto airplanes using someone else's ticket back then. At least now, anyone past security must be a ticketed passenger.
