I’ve never asked for prayers before, but my dog Kodak is very ill and is fighting for his life. He means everything to me. We sure could use some help. Thanks imaginary friends.

On the sixth day, God created the animals and man.

Together we dwell, each dependant on the other.

And God saw fit that some of the animals would do well to live among us, and us with them, it is part of the divine. To help us understand greater things, and to have empathy, to express and know love, when the harshness of human to human interaction is difficult to transcend.

I will pray for your friend. May he recover, or if not, that both his passing and your anguish, be made less painlful.

Tests will be back tomorrow. He hasn’t eaten in 3 days and is vomiting bile. He got more shots and meds this morning, started to drink water a couple hours ago, has lost 15 pounds, 79 lbs to 64lbs and is very weak. Vet was somewhat optimistic but I’ve got a bad feeling. I’ve been crying like a little girl all day. I’m so sad. My dog is all I have, all I love. I’m not ready to be alone in this world, it will crush me to loose him or have to put him down, it breaks my heart to see the best friend I’ve ever had suffer. Tomorrow will tell.

Praying hard for you and Kodak.

Glad that he is drinking water now. That is a very good sign. Hope he continues drinking as it is very important.

I was real happy when he started drinking, now if he would eat. I’m sleeping on the floor by him again tonight, whispering to him how much I love him and how much he’s meant to me over the years, at least if he dies in his sleep he won’t go alone and he’ll know he was loved.

I went through similar issues with my bloodhound about seven years ago. He stopped eating and drinking and was going fast. He would not drink. It finally came to me to take him outside to drink out of the hose. We had a routine that when i would water my potted plants he would come to me and i would cup my hand and he would drink the cool cold hose water at high level so it was easy drinking for him. So it finally dawned on me to take him outside and try it and it got him back to drinking on his own and eating started soon after. I did this for several days
I would have lost him then if we had not developed that drinking bond. He was never as strong or as active after that but we had another year together and i was able to love him even more and cherish our time together.
He again became sick and went pretty quick. I also laid with him and held him. He died peacefully in my arms with me crying and telling him how much i loved him and that it was ok to let go and he did.
I had told myself that i would not get another dog and that lasted 4 days. Found another breeder about an-hours drive away that had a litter of two month old bloodhounds that were ready to go. Went to look and came home with the sweetest female. We are together 24/7 and neither of us can make a move without the other one following to see whats going on.
I can go to the restroom by myself but if i don't come back shes up looking for me. The only time she goes mia is if the wife is eating something that interest her.

Anyone that doesn’t understand the bond we share with canines after millennia of evolution side by side just doesn’t get it. We are bonded with dogs at a level that is far deeper than we can truly comprehend. I hope your pup goes on the mend but I guarantee he feels your anguish. Stay positive so he does too.
