We'd have more luck playing pick-up sticks with our butt-cheeks than we will getting a better gun forum or better owner/ moderator

you'd have more of a chance to find a three-legged ballerina than you would finding a better Sig Forum operator.

When I first started browsing and then joined a decade ago, I never expected a forum to become such a part of my life. I was initially looking for Sig information, but now this forum has very little to do with my firearms enthusiasm, for I have gained so much from the broader scope of the forum.

I truly feel like none of this would be possible without the owner's direct, daily involvement. I'm grateful for the time that you sacrifice to provide this service. When I have been in error, I've appreciated the opportunity to explain myself. This site has become such a part of my daily routine that I sometimes worry over what will happen if it ever ceases to be. I am grateful that you provide this service, and would never be so presumptuous as to criticize how you administer this forum.

If expressing gratitude is seen as being obsequious by some, that is ok. I feel I owe you a thank you.

One other thing...

I used to wonder why there wasn't a rules page. I've come to understand the genius in how the rules aren't constitutional, per se, but more of a common law.

By having rules and norms that flow with the development of the forum, it has made the forum more of a community with a definite culture. You must be a part of it to understand that culture, and it has created propinquity with the members here. This explains how the forum will rally around a member in need, or grieve together through each other's tragedies, and miss members when they pass, even though many have never met in person.

Our time here is not a ride on the subway among strangers with the rules posted to the wall. It is more like friends visiting at the barbershop. The way it is administered has created this environment, and this distinct culture is unique on the internet among anonymous strangers.

Yes, very much so. Watch, listen, learn, and you understand how it works and realize that it’s like a family, and among family there isn’t a need for written rules (imho). Occasionally there’s a bit of rudeness, but that usually gets addressed right away, if necessary, and often the membership itself handles it well and with humor or kindness. Anyone can have an off day.
