Some years ago, it was discovered that Brussels sprouts taste bad to folks that have the TAS2R38 gene. I'm wondering if there's a specific gene that makes Miracle Whip taste bad. If so, I've got it.


Serious about crackers.

Grey Poupon and other fancy mustards have their place, but plain yellow makes sense for a sandwich like this I think. Do yourself a favor and try Heinz yellow mustard, which was until recently only available to food service/restaurants. I couldn't go back to French's after having the Heinz.

Another suggestion (since we're all in a nitpicking mood Wink ) would be to upgrade that pickle to a Claussen. Their pickles are cold-packed and kept in the refrigerated section. Shelf-stable pickles have been heated during canning, which destroys the crunch and texture. Whole kosher dill or whole "hearty garlic" are my choice, slice or quartered as needed. I've yet to find a better pickle outside of a real deli.

You redeemed yourself with that last sentence. I was going to call sacrilege. Not to pick a nit in any way.

My Dad was a long time friend of the owner of Mount Olive, so it has kind of been a family brand for us.
