Ever see a Jewish Rye sandwich with bacon?
Nope. Not with Miracle Whip. Never.

Pipe SmokerSome years ago, it was discovered that Brussels sprouts taste bad to folks that have the TAS2R38 gene. I'm wondering if there's a specific gene that makes Miracle Whip taste bad. If so, I've got it.

Don't you have Gray Poupon?
Left it in my Rolls.
The bacon is cooked. It is lean bacon that is completely cooked but not to a brittle state - as you guys seem to prefer. The bacon is cooked in a manner that allows it to be folded - not broken - onto the bread. If you crisp your bacon then you are leaving the flavor in the skillet to be sopped and not gloriously rolling over your tongue. What Philistine taste you guys have!
I assume you also cook your filet to well-done? If you wrap a filet with bacon, do you cook it until the bacon is crisp?
.
Philistine ? ? ? You are the one who puts Miracle Whip on a sandwich.
I've stopped counting.

S600MBUSAGrey Poupon and other fancy mustards have their place, but plain yellow makes sense for a sandwich like this I think. Do yourself a favor and try Heinz yellow mustard, which was until recently only available to food service/restaurants. I couldn't go back to French's after having the Heinz.
Another suggestion (since we're all in a nitpicking mood

) would be to upgrade that pickle to a Claussen. Their pickles are cold-packed and kept in the refrigerated section. Shelf-stable pickles have been heated during canning, which destroys the crunch and texture. Whole kosher dill or whole "hearty garlic" are my choice, slice or quartered as needed. I've yet to find a better pickle outside of a real deli.

You redeemed yourself with that last sentence. I was going to call sacrilege. Not to pick a nit in any way.

Heinz yellow mustard
When Teresa Heinz inherited her Republican husband's family company and put the money into liberal causes and John Kerry started dipping his hotdog in the Heinz - I refused to give that company another penny.
"...upgrade that pickle to a Claussen."
My Dad was a long time friend of the owner of Mount Olive, so it has kind of been a family brand for us.
And no one has brought up the range of the millions who would not eat this sandwich - outside of the Jewish faith.

Absolutely. I won't buy any other pickles. Gotta have the crunch.
