Over the past couple of years, the fried chicken sandwich, Chick-Fil-A style, has become a big thing. Every fast food joint now has their version but no one can even come close, the best runner-up is Popeye’s I’ll admit. It’s not half bad.

But McDonald’s and BK? Fugeddabout it!

I’ve tried McDonald’s and it’s not great. Finally had a chance to try the BK CH’King and it’s total garbage. Dry chicken, seemed more crust than meat. Just not good at all.

I’ve heard that CFA brines their breasts first which would explain why they are always juicy and delicious. They’re also super consistent which you don’t see always at the other chains.

Has anyone else tried anything else out there like the KFC sandwich? I wonder how that compares?

Years ago Wendy’s (like 15-20 years) used to have a pretty decent chicken sandwich, then something changed like they were trying to cost-cut and the sandwich turned into crap.

Why would I try anything else?

If cheese and bacon were options for Popeyes, it would be the best, since it's not CFA wins. Bojangles' is not bad.

It's chicken. The most generic meat in existence. I don't see any significant difference between Chick-Fil-A and any other brand of chicken sandwich. If you like the service, or the company's politics, that's fine. But I'm not waiting in line for 30 minutes to get one.

They are terrible. I won't ever order one again. Last time, we even tried getting one with "no pickle". Not that I don't like pickles, but the bottom bun was wet and soggy from the pickle.

My work got us catered lunch the last 2 days. It was Chik Fil A. Yesterday was a chicken wrap and waffle chips. I had no idea they had a chicken wrap or waffle chips. The wrap was pretty good and the chips I was pleasantly surprised.

Today we got an original chicken sandwich and waffle chips. Much better.

I was surprised by the feedback from people. I would say the negative feedback was 5 to 1 for both the wrap and the sandwich. I think I was one of the few people that actually liked the lunches.

Two of my grocery stores offer Chick-Fil-A sauce. Maybe that sauce is part of the reason that the chicken sandwich is so good.

Much as I like the company itself, the food is too salty for my taste.

You have obviously never been to a Boxcar Betty's...

Grilled or breaded chicken sandwich with bacon jam!
Their fried pickles are also excellent.

CFA cooks the Lords Chicken in peanut oil. None of the other companies use peanut oil. (Mrs. Mikes company delivers for them)

I've never waited more than five minutes. Confused

I will say, from the options we have here, it's one of the best. Surprisingly McDonald's version of a Crispy Chicken sandwich is actually pretty good.

Sadly the Lord's chicken is not available in Alaska. The chicken sandwich from Popeye's is not a bad option. McDonald's was terrible. Haven't tried Burger King but I do not have high expectations.

CFA here has changed their operation to drive through only.

I'm not wasting my expensive fuel in an endless line because of some indecisive asshole or some shitbag ordering for the whole office.

Waffle house's grilled chicken sandwich does me just fine now and it comes with their glorious hash browns.

They use peanut oil, yes, they brine the chicken, yes. The other thing not mentioned yet is the chicken is brined in pickle juice.

The Popeye’s sandwich is pretty darn good. A lot bigger than the Chick-fil-A sandwich. But, you have to go to Popeye’s to get one which is a major drawback.

The problem with McDonalds is a serious lack of consistency and quality control. I had one of the new chicken sandwiches right after they came out and it was really good. I was very surprised. It helped that I got about as perfect a side of fries as I can expect from McDonalds. Hot, crispy and salted just right.

Then a month ago I stopped and got the same meal from the same restaurant and it was garbage. The fries and the bun were soggy and lukewarm.

CFA tastes the same in NYC on a Thursday morning as it does in the NC airport on a Monday evening. If you don’t like the sandwich then you don’t like it, but it’s always the same so at least you know what you are getting. It’s got a pretty distinct taste so certainly some people won’t like it. Personally I liked the spicy grilled chicken sandwich better than anything else but I guess it’s seasonal only.
