Saw a little of that on deployments. However, my favorite SEAL patch by far was when they'd wear a version of the Navy DTOM flag.

The logo we spray painted on our HMMWV's was the Rogue brewery logo since our call-sign was "Rogue," they are an OR Brewery, and we were OR NG.

I found a Punisher morale patch today at a LGS. It has a thin blue line in it. I'm putting it on my hat now. I'm in.

I personally think unit / deployment art is a great thing, be it on body armor, vics, aircraft or weapons.

Immediately post 9-11 most Navy squadrons didn't do any artwork on planes, everyone was worried it might 'offend'; our squadron only did it at the end of deployment and it was pretty crappy looking - but we could mark up bombs (since we were dropping them often, they rarely came back).

My favorite bomb was a GBU-12 marked "With a heartfelt FUCK YOU from XYZ" with a Sharpie permanent marker - it cracked open a Taliban T-55 on the move with at least a couple of shitheads inside at the time.

Eventually squadrons got back into the swing of marking planes with bomb / missile markings for engagements and doing some sort of deployment artwork - which I think is good. It's fucking war after all, you are doing much more than hurt people's feelings. Wink

I'm still laughing at the guy who thinks it's stolen valor to wear the Punisher logo unless you are a SEAL team guy. LOL.

Yeah, SEALs seem to think their shit don't stink and whatever they touch is theirs.

Kind of embarrassing actually, but oh well.

Well ladies and gents, the creator of The Punisher was so offended by military and police using the logo that he changed it…

…stupid as hell, but I missed the memo where he asked my opinion.

What is the purpose of this comment?

I think you'll find people capable of understanding lots of things.

Come down off your high horse and explain, or keep your comments to yourself.

I coul be wrong but I think there was some sarcasm in his post. That's how I took it anyway.

Perhaps the member should clarify.

Folks should keep in mind that this is text. If they are attempting sarcasm, I recommend using one of these: Wink

Otherwise, it leaves the text to be taken seriously.

Swift did not put a winky emoji at the end of "A Modest Proposal." And some readers undoubtedly thought he was serious. The reader bears some responsibility to find the sarcasm.

Because the modern male has been neutered. In mostly good reasons because of our amazing safety and prosperity. We still as humans yearn for struggles, challenges and meaning. So we recreate “battles” and “civil wars” on the gridiron. “Spartan” obstacle course racing becomes one of the fastest growing sports.

Or we appropriate a kewl skull logo and fantasize about being “that guy” if we had to…

I’ve read through this thread again and everyone missed the point of my question. I wasn’t asking why youze guys like to wear a kewl skull. I was asking why so many people use it in their logo. Hacker groups, collector groups, metal detector groups, motorcycle groups (street and dirt), car guy groups, etc. etc. and ad infinitum. I do realize that I wasn’t clear on this point.

Because everyone likes to think they are a tough guy.

I used to see lots of Superman tattoos back in the mid to late '90's. I get the same vibe from the Punisher logo stuff. Around here, usually accompanied by the pair o' nuts dangling from the rear hitch of the truck.... Roll Eyes

Yup; plus a fundraiser for Taya Kyle (a T-shirt supporting the P-logo with the word “Legend”). All proceeds went to help her in her court battle against Jesse Ventura a.k.a. Scrufface

Also some door kickers wore distinctive balaclavas with a particular image on the face to scare the shit out of tangos. Got no problem with that either.

Skulls and related iconography have been around for a long long time… Since the beginning of man.

No surprise, Marvel went woke decades ago.

While their movies were generally entertaining, their comics have been underwhelming with the constant changes, re-boots and the move to 'woke' themes and characters. From inserting anti-American storylines into Captain America, trying to create a new 'woke' superhero team, to changing characters genders and revealing who's gay. Marvel is no different than many large corporate operations who've jumped-off the hyper-sensitivity cliff and given-in to 'the narrative'
