The image is applied to a thin sheet of frosting using a modified inkjet printer filled with edible ink.

That sheet of frosting is then trimmed as needed and then applied to the cake.

I don't know how it's applied, but bj's wholesale club will put any picture you bring them and put it on the cake. It's frosting based and edible just like rest of the cake.

They know I'm a gun nut. So, one of the staffers asked a lady friend of hers who specializes in cakes to make this. I was very pleasantly surprised. Yes, it is edible. Cool
