I don't want to speak for SIGnified. But I can tell you that my wife is a nurse who deals with elderly patients on a daily basis. It is quite a common occurrence for elderly patients with physical ailments to have mental health problems as well. In the vast majority of cases those mental health issues are not being treated by a doctor. So it isn't much of a stretch to think that many are self-medicating. Now why are there so many mental health problems among the aged? Well, I think it is combination of two factors. First, I think it is a symptom of cognitive decline. Second, at some point you realize that your best days are behind you, you measure the number of years you have left in single digits and physical problems you have are never going to resolve.

I won't speak for everyone in the room, but some of us are active in addiction treatment from degrees ranging from amateur to professional. It's a legit problem.
You may as well have the same attitude about a schizophrenic hearing voices and opting to have a conversation with them.
The step from legitimate domestic RX drugs to something laced with fentanyl is an awfully small one for many who've successfully overcome active addiction only to need to undergo major surgery and have the chemical rewiring in their brain reactivated as a matter of course. When the prescription runs out, for many people the monkey is not just on their back, it's got them by the throat and they're scoring street drugs of unknown quality because fuck it. It's often enough fatal. ______________________________________________ “There are plenty of good reasons for fighting, but no good reason ever to hate without reservation, to imagine that God Almighty Himself hates with you, too.”

Go back and re-read my statement. Or better yet let's try this again. I don't UNDERSTAND why people ENJOY that fucked up feeling. I don't understand. I didn't say I refused to take my meds. ____________________________ Eeewwww, don't touch it! Here, poke at it with this stick.

There's no need for me to re-read it or you to rephrase it, I understood you the first time. I cannot really explain it any better than this: It's not a "fucked up feeling," it's euphoria, and all you have to do is push the button. At least, that's how it starts, and then things get rapidly more complicated. You cannot understand it because you get the "fucked up feeling," and not the euphoria. Thank your maker that is so. ______________________________________________ “There are plenty of good reasons for fighting, but no good reason ever to hate without reservation, to imagine that God Almighty Himself hates with you, too.”

Too bad the urban myths keep coming true. It’s not particularly uncommon around here for fentanyl parties to go on. They hire someone that isn’t a user to be a DD of sorts to administer the Narcan. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn’t and EMS gets called. if this was an “urban myth” this wouldn’t be happening. Most fentanyl users know the risks. And they don’t care. Until criminal Justice comes back into style, no amount of feel good programs will work. States need to get out of the state sponsored rehab business.

There were 100,000 fentanyl deaths last year and it didn't even make a dent in the junkie population. There is no sense of urgency to even try to curb it. It's as if the demorrhoids are trying to lower their own numbers on purpose. All china is doing is making the angry, drug resistant people like me the majority in the population. An invasion would be met with extreme prejudice. ____________________________ Eeewwww, don't touch it! Here, poke at it with this stick.

I am far removed from LEOs dealing with drug problems but I have a sneaky suspicion that the jljones statement is true.

This thread reminds a little bit of Mindkiller by Spider Robinson. Part of that story was wiping out addicts by allowing them to OD (not drugs, but still). P220smudge, I showed that vid you posted to my 10 y.o. this morning. It was eloquent and to the point. Then I read the poem about drugs to him, and talked for a while about the meaning of both. He walked in on me watching the vid at breakfast, and it was a nice introduction to a conversation I wasn’t certain he was too young for. Thank you. __________________________ "Trust, but verify."

if the covid bullshit had happened in the 1950 or 60's we would have nuked China. And we may yet, sadly.

As long as the customer has the means, there’ll be business. As for the Chinese communists, this admin. seems to be in collusion with them!

I'm glad it helped. My son is nine, so I get it. ______________________________________________ “There are plenty of good reasons for fighting, but no good reason ever to hate without reservation, to imagine that God Almighty Himself hates with you, too.”

If we'd recognized the threat, we wouldn't have developed the relationship with China that allowed unscrupulous Americans to finance the medical experimentation in China which led to the lab leak. We did this to ourselves, by doing research on the "cheap", with people that we KNEW were untrustworthy (Chinese "Big Pharma" interests and their military). "Nuke" them? We should be arresting and trying the criminals in this country that sold out our safety!!! Just because you can, doesn't mean you should |
I looked up the travel time between the Wuhan wet market and the Wuhan Institute of Virology and Google says it's 3.3km or 11 minutes. In the Anthrax attacks/Bruce Ivins case, they authorities first started looking at Fort Detrick, Md at the lab because they did Anthrax research there. Pretty simple connection and the logical place to start. They took a few tries to get the right guy, but the location to look at was obvious. What's the chance the virus came randomly from nature from somewhere else in the world, when the labs almost right next door. The most simple explanation, statistically speaking, is usually the right one. SIGnified's point is correct. The bioweapon's death count is much higher than the Fentanyl count. They've shown the intent in many ways, it's time we get serious dealing with anything related to the CCP. ___________________________ Avoid buying ChiCom/CCP products whenever possible.

Americans FUNDED this gain of function bullshit. All while naively thinking the Chinese wouldn't use it against us. Scientists have always been stupid. Really stupid. He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster.

I don't think Fauci et al were looking to do weapons research on the cheap, they were looking for a way to illegally do research. Afaik, it was illegal to do the gain of function research under USA law, so they used the cutout to direct funds to China. Idk what kind of psychosis it took to believe China would not find a way to use the funding to our eventual disadvantage. Imagine giving $$ to the USSR in 1970 to do nuclear power research and thinking they wouldn't use the money to build weapons. I remain convinced Fauci and Daszak are responsible for millions of deaths, past and future. They were abetted by many others who had power and profit motives. Indeed there should be trials and public punishments. We hung criminals in Nuremburg for harming people with medical experiments without fully informed voluntary consent. Without strong punishment there is no deterence.
