Why would this outcome surprise anyone? California is ground zero for attracting, rewarding, and promoting failure. Newsome is a joke....and with this vote California shows us once again, they are too. Best of luck with your socialist dreams.

What pisses me off the most is those who voted to keep him - essentially saying they're happy with his handling (or lack thereof) the homeless debacle and Covid overreach.

We live with the highest property taxes, highest fuel taxes, highest $/student with some of the worst student performance, least housing affordability, etc. How are so many people happy with this that they'll continue to vote for the same party that crushes everyone's dream?

How? I suspect most of them have never been anywhere else and don't know that things are better in other places. The media won't show them that.

If you can print off your ballot is it really a legit election?

If you control most of what people see and read is it an informed populous?

Free and fair elections are in my opinion something we have not had in a long time.

I was disappointed, but not surprised by CA voters. I assume that the D team cheated, but with a 64% retain vote it seems to be more than just cheating. That NPC “Govern me harder Daddy” meme seems to apply.

One thing seemed interesting - 63.92 voted not to recall, but 46.93 voted for Larry Elder?

Maybe some (or many) of the folks who voted no on the recall didn’t vote the second question and Larry got 46.93% of the votes that chose a candidate?

As a fellow resident, you know there's a LOT of apathy and in-difference amongst people. Barely 20% got off their asses to place a vote. Most 1st gen immigrants don't want anything to do with politics, either they don't pay attention or, they believe elections are rigged because that's what they're used to so, why bother participating. Many residents are transplants, wanting to bathe in all that is Left. Then there's the chunk that grew up here, got a heavy dose of slanted indoctrination in the public school system, saw every school club and organization as being a leftist bastion but, they did nothing. No pushback, give me my sheepskin and get me outta here. There's a lot of conservatives that have left the state.

A significant chunk of the electorate see social engineering as their religion and the ballot box is their alter. Many have gotten it hard-wired into them that anybody with a R, is a corrupt Mr Money Bags or, a religious zealot that wants to harvest ovaries...never mind they never apply such far-out reasoning to anybody with a D or a G. They're either financially comfortable and don't want to change anything because they've been able to get on top or, their entire life has been one disappointment after another because they're unable to connect-the-dots, thus they must blame 'the other'.

The news media, academics and the endless supply of non-profits and social advocacy organizations have all worked hard to demonize anybody who offers a counter argument or, anything conservative. Look at the incident where Elder was egged in Venice Beach, that was a group of crazy homeless that confronted him and his staff. Yet, the media bent-over backwards to frame it as 'the people' confronting a Republican and 'speaking truth to power'.

Of the Yes to Recall and those who answered question #2, Elder got 47%. That's how I read it.

The silver lining is the d assclowns spent a lot of time defending a Governor that should have been unassailable. That had to cost them capital and wear on their internal alliances a bit.

The Democrats has it down pat at "winning" elections. Having the big names like Biden, Kamala, and Klobachar was just cover for how so many ballots came out against the recall.

5,000,000 voted for a person to replace Newsom but only 3.3 million voted to recall Newsom??? Yeah, right.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Democrats lie and cheat. Ends justify the means. They have no moral compass. They have no ethics. I believe this to be be true - not at the individual level per se but a group aggregate level, and especially for those in politics and following politics.

That being said, if I glance at some quick stats:

1. Seems like there are about 22M registered voters
2. A good 13.7M are in the metro areas and are largely democrats (let's say a good 70%); Santa Clara 75% No. LA County 70%. So, 9.6M democrat voters.
3. Assume that 40% of non-metro area voters also vote democrat (as suggested by the voting pattern of a 'red' county). So, another 3.3M or about 13M total democrat voters out of 22M
4. County stats seems to show good turn out for red counties, decent turn out for metro counties. https://electionresults.sos.ca.gov/returns/status
5. I would have guess that the results would have been much closer than the 35-65 split they are showing - something like 5.4M recall vs 6.5M no recall. Yes, we still would have lost but the margin by which we lost seems funny......

I believe they're still counting up mail-in ballots, absentees and all the other 'exception' ballots.

I hear that all the time but what does that say to the 2 million that voted for change? Or the people like Corsair or Russ59 or any of the others that have to live there?

Most of the voters who voted for Newsome were actually voting against Trump. I know he wasn't on the ballot, but Newsome did a good job of portraying Elder as a Trump clone. Newsome actually mentioned Trump in his typical stump speech repeatedly, while barely mentioning Elder's name. I don't think that a lot of us who voted for Trump twice quite appreciate the extent that loathing for Trump motivates the Democrat base to get out and vote.

Once again, we see elections have consequences. Let’s see if they enjoy the fruits of this one.
