It's going to be about their brains now. I guess that means it'll be a half hour sitcom.

I watch the farm report.

This will be far worse.

So, does that mean contestants will need an IQ bigger than their bra size?

Female talking head on Nothing But Crap "news" just a few minutes ago: "This may be Miss America's crowning achievement."

Gawd, are these people idiots.

The feeder is still all the Miss "name-your-state" pageants.....so the "best personality" winners will still be lookers.

As the father of a daughter who competed at the state title the past three years, I can say that these young women are anything but dimwits. All that I can think of have excelled both academically and in other endeavors. My daughter was a straight A student through high school, a Girl Scout with the Gold Award, and just graduated from college with a degree in microbiology and is applying to dental school. She was home today and I asked her how she felt about this, as I said I didn't like it, and she replied exactly how I thought she would - she, along with pretty much all of her fellow former and current contestants, hate this. In fact, the MAO wants the state title holders to toe the company line when they are interviewed, to say how great this is, but most say they will not.

The swimsuit competition is their chance to show confidence in themselves in front of a big audience, and they work extremely hard for it. And this is for an event that makes up only 15% of their total score. The bulk of their score comes from an off-stage interview in which they are wearing business attire. While my daughter never got higher than the top 5 out of the 27 contestants who won pageants from around the state, she did win the overall interview portion one year, and the swimsuit competition on one of the preliminary nights in another year.

When she first started this, I, like a lot of other people, thought it was just a "beauty pageant." But I learned quickly about how much work they put into this, besides keeping up with their academics. So, this competition is much more than a "beauty pageant." Having the discipline and drive to not only work on their talent, but also their fitness, is something that has paid off for my daughter, who learned who to live a healthy lifestyle. It is truly a shame that they are going to end the swimsuit competition (and yes, I enjoyed watching it, too), for the sake of "inclusion." It's like my daughter's close friend, the current Miss Wis said, "why can't a woman be both beautiful and smart?"

No. Way too painfully dull. The only reason I would even pause if I happened on to it while channel surfing would be the bikini part. Sigh.

Of course this is what we want to see. Who wants to watch them getting interviewed by a panel of judges, how boring and NOT made for TV. Wave bye

Shannon Bream (former Miss Florida AND Miss Virginia) had a similar point of view on Fox this evening. She is easy on the eyes AND smart as a whip.

This has to be the dumbest idea I’ve heard in a very long time. Roll Eyes

What this woman has done is effectively kill Miss America, there’s no way people want to see what will now basically be a talent show and debate.

In a way, this asshattery reminds me of the short story “Harrison Bergeron” by Kurt Vonnegut, in a totalitarian future USA where everyone is forced to be “equal”, they have TV anchors with speech impediments who can barely speak and force attractive people to wear ugly masks.
