I'm so sorry to see this. Go with God Bigbore. I can't imagine what you and your family are going through, but know you'll all be together again some day!

Hi, everyone. This is BBS's youngest daughter. I think one of you has talked to my sister. I just wanted you all to know how much it means to us to see how many people care about daddy. You all and this forum have meant a lot to him. He's still here as of now, but he'll be resting soon. Thank you all for your kind words and prayers for our family.

Your father is a good man. I had the pleasure of meeting him when we had a group gathering back in 2013. He is very proud of you and your sister and spoke of you often. My heart aches for you all. Love, prayers and best wishes from our family to all of you.

Didn't know or converse with your father ever (but have read probably every one of his posts over the last 13 or so years). However, I do feel a great sadness in learning of his current condition.

Prayers are ongoing for you, your family and your father.

Regards,

So very sorry.

I recall reading that BBS was diagnosed with Prostate cancer about one year after me. For some reason that stuck with me. I guess because you really understand what the other person may be going through.

Heartfelt prayers from here.

Welcome to the Forum and sorry that you and your family are going thru this. Unfortunately, death completes the full circle of life and that is a reality that we all have to deal with. My family is in the same situation as yours right now as our father is deteriorating as the cancer in his brain slowly takes his life.

We can only hope and pray that the end is quick and painless.

I never really interacted with your father but enjoyed reading his posts.

Godspeed.

Phillip was probably THE first SIGForum member I met in person at a SF shoot he organized probably 10+ years ago. Thanks to him, over the years I got to meet some amazing people, many of whom I call close, personal friends now.
(I even got to meet his wife, quite by chance, due to her work.)

From the first or second SF Shoot with yours truly...

Phillip, ruger357, Smitty908 and myself regularly met for lunch just to hang out, BS, talk guns, and plan the next shoot. Over the years the lunches slowed down in frequency as life tended to get in the way, but we all stayed in touch.

If you knew him for more than 5 minutes, you knew he was an honest, genuine, passionate man who loved his God, his family, and went out of his way to be in service to others. He truly embodied someone with a servant's heart..just one of those people you enjoyed meeting and were lucky you could call a friend.

I feel blessed that I got to meet up with him in February for a couple of lunches.
To give you an idea of his outlook on things - he wanted me to install night sights on his M&Ps. That's the mentality of a fighter...

I will miss my friend, but know he'll be in a better place and that his suffering will soon be over.

(And can you can't mention BigBoreShooter if you didn't mentioned the one firearm he was most known for (and probably the most-coveted of his extensive collection Wink )
His Birdshead Ruger Vaquero in 45LC. He was known for bringing "spicy, Ruger-only" loads.) Big Grin

I'm praying for comfort for BBS and his family. I don't believe I ever had the pleasure of conversing with him directly, but I have read a lot of his posts over the years, and valued his contributions. He will certainly be missed.
