Could be

My Gunsmith's Wife did the prep...showed up for the procedure and was told..."It's not today...it's on Wednesday". Two days later.

She got to do it all over again on Tuesday.

We still laugh about it.

And, while a scope may be better, they are not perfect either. There are a whole lot of polyps that get missed with scopes, even with very well trained and experienced operators.

Fair enough. It should also be mentioned that the adequacy of the bowel preparation is quite important for a good image.

I had one last December.

I was already on a diet and eating less.

So at S-2 I ate lunch at Chipotle.

By 0800 on S-1, I'd nearly died of diarrhea.

At 1600 on S-1, I started the prep.

By 0900 on S-0 I hadn't expelled anything new.

At S-over, the doc said I'd done a great job on the prep as was shown in the 47 3x5 color glossy photographs he gave me, along with a "I'll see you in ten years."

Chipotle. One way to play this game by your rules.

My 2017 colonoscopy prep was orders of magnitude better than my 1997 colonoscopy prep, my 2009 colorectal surgery prep, and my 2013 colorectal surgery prep. Two examples:
Violence / Force: The 1997 prep should've come with DIY instructions for mounting a seatbelt to your toilet. 2017 was less violent than Taco Bell.

Actually kind of welcomed. Gives me an idea.
I have mine tomorrow. I did my first bottle of SUPREP starting at 6:00. Took me about 35 minutes to get it down.
Needed ice and Powerade.
Wish I would have read this thread prior to since someone suggested a straw. I will give it a shot for my 11pm dose.

My 4 year old had his first in February when he was 3 and was given a miralax duclolax combo. My wife was home with him and said he did well.
The scope found a rather large polyp in his colon that was not cancerous. Very thankful for that. The polyp removal made a world of difference for him but he is still having issues we can’t figure out.

I got sick in January and all my scans came back normal and GI believed it was just a wicked virus. Checked back after 3 months with no recurring symptoms so here we are at 6 months doing a scope to be sure it was nothing more.

Sounds like SUPREP is not too violent of a release so that is good but getting that stuff down is rough.
Not looking forward to 11pm

I've had two colonoscopies. Nether time was the volume I had to drink very large, but the extreme citrus taste was gagging. It still beats the sigmoidoscopy I had done in the late seventies.

I had mine about 3 years ago and they wanted me to come back this month. Pre-Diverticulitis. I've stayed away from all the foods they told me to avoid but I'm still going back in. About 16 hours of zero fun to get some peace of mind for years. They're a no brainer.

Every gastro has a different prep. The easiest is two Dulcolax tablets followed by split dosing of Miralax mixed with half gallon of Powerade or Gatorade. Tasteless except for the Powerade.

Just had my first colonoscopy yesterday as I just turned 50. I honestly had no difficulty with the SUPREP. As instructed at 9:00 pm mixed the first bottle with 16oz of water and just chugged it down and immediately followed up with the 32oz of water. About an hour later, my tummy told me it was time to head to the office. Set alarm for 3:00 am for the next dose and it went just as smoothly. Ate very light on Saturday and nothing on Sunday because I didn't know what to expect and didn't really want a mud laser.

I would highly reccomend drinking alcohol in large amounts and then using Diprovan, for permanent unconsciousness. I hope you are kidding. Nothing like keeping the Anesthetist on his toes.

I think it's buried in here from several, but the key is to eat verrrry light leading up to the prep day. Salads and such. Not served on a burrito and a steak.

There are also preps that are more "mild" like Suprep. Just ask specifically after doing the research and most any GI doc will accommodate.

Suprep didn’t treat me mildly. I had the most violent water cannon I’ve ever had. I am pretty sure I got air from the force. I’ve had friends that have done the miralax prep with little difficulty.

This reminds me that I need to set up an appointment with my GI to discuss getting my next one. Ugh.

I was told salads and ruffiage were a no no 4 days prior to the prep beginning. Guess it can cling to the walls blocking view.

It is quite the liquid cannon but I have zero cramping or stomach discomfort which I was expecting a lot of.
Drinking the stuff is by far the worst part. The straw helped a little bit I was able to get the second dose down in about 20 minutes.
Man it is awful, thick syrup like with an awful fake cherry taste. Had to be chased immediately with Powerade.
So now I just watch some shows with frequent breaks until the AM. Have to be at the surgery center at 7am.
I have been under anesthesia twice and like others said in the thread best sleep ever!
Hoping no issues are found.

Next time, hopefully a long time from now, I’ll ask if I can do the Miralax and Gatorade route. A bit easier to swallow as my 3 year old did it.

That was the key for Suprep, just slam it down quickly. No cramping, just a lot of liquid.

I purchased my prep kit directly from my Gastroenterologist the day I scheduled the procedure. Seems when he did my colonoscopy, he reported "Incomplete Prep", and therefore I have to do another colonoscopy in 3 years. I followed his nurse's instructions to the letter before the procedure and was spewing clear the morning of! I guess my brother has been right all along...I AM full of shit! Big Grin
