Gun lubricants aside, I always keep some silicone grease on hand. It has about the same constancy as Vaseline, but is perfectly clear, never gets gummy, and is quite inert.

I use it to lube parts of some food processing equipment, and also to lube the tenon of some of my briar pipes.

I get it in the plumbing department of Home Depot. It comes in a cylindrical grey plastic tub ~1-1/2" in diameter, and ~3/4" high.

Yes, forgot about that. I got a little tube of it to lubricate the seals/rubber gaskets on my backpacking water filters. Realize that it did a good job preserving the seals and making everything go back together smoothly. Now I use it on anything with a rubber gasket or threads such as flashlights or anything with a battery compartment.

Also good for keeping CV boots from deteriorating. Or at least slowing it down.

What are these "other" gun forums of which you speak? Firefox only takes me to SigForum. Razz

Also, I'll bet you're fun at parties. Roll Eyes

I use KY Jelly on my gun!

I have to share a funny story. I used to work for a medical device company that used KY Jelly for lubrication of internal mechanical stuff.

Problem is: the device is used inside patients' body and that time, companies that made regular products like KY or silicone used in medical products did NOT want the connection. Silicone manufacturers paid tons of money due to lawsuits connected with breast implant tragedies; I think that was dupont. So we couldn't get an official purchase order for KY jelly. So the VP of purchasing who was a woman had the job of buying KY from individual pharmacies.

We at the shop floor would talk about how she did it. She would go up to the drugstore counter and say, "I'd like a couple of packs of gum and, umm..., all the KY Jelly you have in the store please." And we would just laugh picturing that scene in our minds.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

I have been using this lately. Works just fine.

I will be trying this next.
https://algdefense.com/alg-go-...grease-4-oz-428.html

This is the slickest lube out of everything that I have tried. I heard that it is nothing more than a cutting fluid.

I like to experiment with products and I have about a dozen lubes on my bench. They all work.
