Cromagnon candella this evening after replacing our water heater. It was an emergency c-section, started leaking.

This is the best candella I have ever had! Lots of pepper, full body, not grassy.

For the most part, Candella wrapped cigars are very mild with a grass flavor to them. This one how ever was nothing like the rest of them I have had.

Morning Gents -

Found out my dad's heart failure is getting worse and he has to wear a 24/7 defibrillator - (called a life jacket)

Surgery in January where he will be fitted with a pacemaker and a defib...scary surgery.

Damn it. Thanks for letting me vent a bit.

Ronin, I hope everything goes well for your father. Crappy time of year for it, but life happens.

And if you can't vent here, then we are doing it wrong. Prayers brother.

That sucks John. On the plus side though, my grandfather has a pacemaker and my parents neighbor has a defibrillator and both are doing well. My thoughts are with you.

Thoughts and prayers for you and your family Ronin.

I have a little potential good news to share. Had a phone interview today for a promotion to a position I would very much like to have. I feel the interview went well, and I'm waiting to hear on a follow up in person interview in a few weeks.

Went down to the local deli/sandwich shop/country store/wine place that also happens to have a small walk in humidor.

Found a fresh box of these guys and couldn't resist getting a few:

CAO Amazon Basin

I'm out enjoying this one right now. Earthy, almost grassy taste the first third. Very nice. I've seen people recommend you actually age these for a while, so I might try again in a few months.

Cheers!

md-lucky thanks for the picture of that CAO Amazon Basin. I went online to search for some and I guess they are fairly rare. I ordered a box from CI and will try to age them some before I try my first one. Looking forward to it!

dern, you guys are some more serious cigar nuts! I smoke a cheap cigar about every other day and a good one once a week if I can find the time.

Ronin, hope all works out with your father.... My father is the reason I enjoy a good cigar.

Guys,

Thanks for the kind words and the thoughts/prayers to go along with them. I'll know more on January 13th, that is his next consult. My understanding is that he needs this because of his congestive heart failure and that this procedure is the 'life extender" for those who are not strong enough to qualify for a heart transplant. ...sigh...

<pause>

Okay, back to our topic at hand. Welcome blume357! Are you a newer cigar smoker or have you been doing this for a while?

Any favorites? We get some great discussions going back here so feel free to contribute at will! (pics earn you bonus points!)
