I like the videos of the Venezuelans dispelling the belief of a kidnapping and educating the morons at large of the reality - the freeing of a country stolen and held hostage by an evil dictator. I hope they go viral and wake up what little brain cells the morons on the left can manage. It's such a shame to have TDS color the value of freedom.

“ What justifies this action, from a Pentagon strategic perspective, is the convergence of three existential threats from America's three primary adversaries. China has embedded operational control into critical mineral extraction that feeds weapons manufacturing. Iran has established drone production facilities within strike range of the continental United States. Russia has deployed military advisers and integrated air defense systems in the Caribbean. Venezuela represents the only location where all three adversaries operate simultaneously. The oil is secondary. Breaking Chinese supply chain dominance, eliminating Iranian manufacturing capability, and expelling
Russian military presence are primary.”

It just keeps getting better.

That's not strategic or even tactical in anyway. It's just spiteful...I love it.

The author completely missed a key oil component. Venezuela's on-going threats against its neighbor Guyana. Here is a key timeline from Grok:
  • May 2015 Stabroek Block major oil discovery by ExxonMobil announced (ie. the same company Venezuela already stole Cerro Negro field in Venezuela's Orinoco Oil belt)
  • 2015-2018 Venezuela protests Straebock Block oil concessions to ExxonMobil and its partners (e.g. Hess who was later purchased by Chevron. Chevron also lost Venezuela assets in '07 when they were nationalized). Maduro claims there is a disputed territory called Essequibo.
  • December 2018. Venezuela navy intercepts a seismic survey ship contracted by ExxonMobil.
  • December 2019. First oil production in Stabroek Block.
  • December 2023. Venezuela holds an "election" where voters supposedly vote to assert sovereignty over Essequibo.
  • April 2024. Maduro signs law creating a new state called Guyana Esequiba and claims administrative control over it and offshore Stabroek Block waters
  • March 2025. Venezuelan gunship enters Stabroek Block and harrasses ExxonMobil operations.
  • May 2025. Maduro holds an "election" and appoints a governor over Guyana Esequiba to assert control over Stabroek Block
  • Throughout 2025. Venezuela has military exercises and there are military incidents at the border.

A few Guyana facts that makes it strategic:
  • Stabroek Block is 75% US owned (ExxonMobil and Chevron)
  • 3rd fastest growing non-OPEC producer. Keeping Guyana out of OPEC control is strategic for the west.
  • Oil reserves per capita are off the charts, and their GDP per capita is top 4 in the Americas.
  • Their first commercial oil production was 2019 and they already produce more oil per year than Venezuela.
  • Their first oil discovery was 2015 and they already have more proven reserves than 11 OPEC countries

Venezuela can't operate onshore assets for shit, and it'd be an even bigger catastrophe if they tried to operate complex deepwater offshore operations.

An oil grab would be short-sighted, not to mention corrupt and unethical.

    Indeed.
From friends in finance and petroleum world, Venezuela's overall oil infrastructure is in bad shape that would take at-least 3-5 years at a minimum to get it running on a consistent level. Since Chavez/Maduro nationalized all the oil infrastructure there's a lot needed to get them operating correctly but, the brain-power and the operational know-how was also lost and will need to be rebuilt. Will there be international oil companies involved? absolutely. I believe Shell and Chevron were the last companies there before getting kicked-out, no doubt they'll be back in there to re-establish their claims or, licenses.

I hope Venezuela is smarter than the middle east and takes advantage of this gift of freedom to improve their country, their lives and their future.

@braillediver Sadly, Bolivar’s “I have plowed the sea,” comment still stands - whether or not he actually said it.

As long as Latin culture stays atheist, socialist, it will remain failed.

Argentina may improve - and has less Spanish influence.

Brazil may improve, as Protestantism grows, and it has very little Spanish influence/Southern Brazil secedes.

Here is the new 2025 indictment.

    https://www.justice.gov/opa/media/1422326/dl

It's not dated (that I can see) but does include at least one phrase using "through 2025" so it must be pretty recent.

This was a federal grand jury, it was sealed until the last day or so, and nothing leaked.

“Venezuela's interim leader, Delcy Rodriguez, has hurled threats at Donald Trump after the capture of the country's president, Nicolas Maduro, who is now languishing in a New York federal jail.

The Supreme Court of Venezuela confirmed hardline socialist Vice President Rodriguez as Maduro's successor just hours after US forces detained him and his wife, Cilia Flores, on narco-terrorism and drug trafficking charges on Saturday.

Trump said he preferred Rodriguez, 56, in power rather than the country's opposition leader, Maria Corina Machado, adding that Maduro's VP was prepared to work with the US. …”
