Do you ever see any of the Western PA guys? Vluc or Sarge or Remsig?

Also, anyone remember Jane? I feel like she had a 239 she carried.

All names from the past I forgot about. Haven't seen them in a long time.

Agreed, para's memory is something we all wish to have.

Lunde didn't live too far away from my prior home, but we never met. Corresponded a few times via email, I remember the dude had a large collection of handguns for a guy limited by CA roster bullshit. Also very knowledgeable about Walther P99s. I always assumed he left merely for Dinkville.

Another guy kind of MIA- arcwelder. But I did find some of his posts and threads in later years being on the weird side, so who knows.

My wife and I picked Lunde up from his hotel in Atlanta and we went to dinner.
He was really fun.

I think Arcwelder passed away, if I recall correctly

Arcwelder - I'm assuming his absence is from 3 things:
  • Publicly admonished for repeatedly posting while drunk (Link)
  • Publicly admonished for intentionally being a dick to members (same link)
  • I was suffering from a bout of insomnia so I'm likely one of the very few people who saw his late night rambling thread about his hobby of having sex with men for sport. Most Sigforumites realize this board isn't about sex so don't post about their sexual activities let alone start a multi-paragraph thread about them. A former moderator definitely should've known better. Fortunately, the thread was nuked before sunrise.

I saw 45 Cal's post, mentioning Mrs. Horse, just as I was getting ready to post about her. Far as I know, she remarried and moved out of state. I met her a few times -- very nice lady!

Good to see you are still avoiding those slam fires down on the south side.

She is doing well. Lives on the Atlantic coast. Earned her CPA a few years ago and now in an MBA program.

  • I used to think he had a pretty good amount of knowledge re the M1a/M14 platform and a few others,

however as time went on, what he did post about was not always,,, well polite, nor factual in a few cases and it seemed his personality went a bit sour

did not get the benefit to see the late night post mentioned, thankfully,

    Indeed she was.

I first met her when she decided that she needed to be armed, but did not know how to choose a firearm. ArtieS hosted a shooting session attended by a bunch of SIGforum folks who brought dozens of various handguns for her to try.

    FUD

    Anyone remember?

Ol' FUD was a real trailblazer, LARPing when few people knew the term.

One night in 2004, FUD shows up here saying a strange car showed up at his house in rural Pennsylvania. A Mexican knocks on his door and asks for someone who doesn't live there- Jiminez or some such shit. No, FUD tells him, there's no one here by that name.

This was more than two decades ago, so perhaps I'll get some of the details wrong, but...

A little while later, another strange car, another knock on the door, another Mexican asking for Jimenez or whoever.

Later that night, around midnight or after, another car pulls up outside. Tail lights, engine idling. No one gets out. The car sits there for a long time.

Now, he's out in the country, y'see. No passing traffic. The sticks, you dig? And yet, here's this parade of Hispanics and now this idling car outside his house.

What does FUD do? Does he investigate? Does he call the police and advise authorities of this unusual activity?

Why, no, of course not. FUD gets on his computer, logs into SIGforum and tells us his scary story.

Hey, man, members say in response, that's weird. Have you called the cops? Is the car still there? Is it still idling?

    FUD?

    FUD?

    Hey, man, you there?

    FUD?

Oh, wow, the members following this story say. Do you think maybe we should call the cops? Maybe get them to do a welfare check. Anyone have his address.

activityactivity mulling about. What should we do?

    FUD?

Oh, wow, man, I hope he's alright.

No address, we can't check on him.

    Silence

Next day, he shows his ass back here in the forum like nothing happened.

"What? Oh, that, that was nothing. No, I didn't investigate or call the cops."

Here comes Para, calls him what he is- a liar. None of that happened.

"Oh, no, it happened, I just..."

You're a liar. Do you know what you set off in here last night? How concerned members were for your welfare? You're telling me you didn't read the thread you started?

    "Oh, it was nothing..."

No, actually, it was something- the end of you here.

    Banned

Come to find out from sources in various forums around the internet, that FUD had a reputation for this brand of juvenile let's-build-a-fort-out-of-chairs-and-blankets-and-play-army-men horse shit.

I had heard rumors but up to the point of him pulling this selfish, ridiculous shit in this forum, I hadn't paid much attention to them.

A grown, man, guys. A grown man. Roll Eyes

I haven't thought about this in a long time.
