I think you're correct.

Politics was the reason Honda left, because he pissed me off by telling everyone - well, this is kinda tough to admit, but...

He told us to not vote for Romney/Ryan in the 2012 presidential election.

I understand now what he meant, and with what we now know about those two super-RINOs, we were probably better off with an Obama second term, which lead us into Donald Trump in 2016.

But he really pissed me off with his advice, which, in my defense, he never bothered to explain at all.

So, he comes back to the forum a couple of years later and I pounced on him and he said "Go ahead and ban me."

So, I did.

Yeah, I stayed mad that long.

I've mentioned before, for the benefit of those of you who weren't around in the earlier years of the forum- I was a hardcore bastard.

If he ever wanted to come back, I would welcome him in and restore his privileges. It's just that back then, his advice about the election flew in the face of everything apparent.

He was a good member otherwise, and it turns out that he was right. He probably didn't know, though, just how right he was.

Circlesqr was a moderator here.

One day, he made an honest mistake. He had the best of intentions in what he did, and meant no harm; quite the opposite.

But, it was in the midst of a feud with a jackass fool of a gunsmith, who went and setup some little shit forum after he got banned from here, and Circlesqr put himself in a position that allowed this idiot to get over on us in a way.

It angered me greatly. Circlesqr explained and apologized. By not responding to him, I tacitly rejected his apology, so, not surprisingly, he drifted away from the forum. It's another of those things I would approach differently if it happened today.

lunde- no one besides me really knows why he left.

He was a member in good standing. One of the things no one knows is that I took him to task- privately- for his posts about shooting prairie dogs. To me, this "sport" is merely senseless, inhumane slaughter. Either you understand that or you don't, but you'll eat a deer or a turkey, or ducks, etc. And you'll have valid reasons for shooting fox or feral hogs or other dangerous predators.

But shooting these poor dumb things minding their own- to me, that's a character defect. If his conscience abides such a thing, that's his business, but I told him I did not ever want to see that stuff from him in the forum.

After B27 showed his ass, he ran to lunde to cry to him, and lunde, in supposed solidarity with the guy, asked for his account here to be closed, but the truth is the man had his own reasons. B27 was just an excuse for him. I'm certain he would not consider that assessment to be fair, but I do.

If you were to ask him, I'm certain there are other reasons, such as how he might have felt taken advantage of and put upon when he was our SHOT Show correspondent, and in retrospect, that might be correct, though it was not done maliciously; if anything, it was done carelessly, though I had no intent to offend.

His behavior afterwards, though- when he went over to Dinkville and sang his song to those guys- that was pure chickenshit, and it indicates to me that he was angry.

Again, if you ask him, his perspective will be different, but I know what I saw at the parting of the ways, and I thought, perhaps mistakenly, that he was better than that.

Steve Aiken? I think? From New Mexico. I thought he was a pain in the ass and I think he went over to Dinkville as well.

SteveAikens - I don't want to misspeak, but IIRC, he got on my wrong side when he spent time over in Dinkville with Benny Bigtime and his minions. Ol' Benny, ego-maniacal pied piper that he was, screwed up the membership of more than a few members of this forum, and all for nothing that benefitted anyone but him.

Steve lost his posting rights in 2009. I don't recall what was the last straw, but I think it was something related to remarks he made elsewhere.

Up until Mister Big Shit Benny started behaving as if he owned this forum, Steve was a good member, but many of those who actually believed that this board would die and Dinkville would thrive, suffered the same fate, and it was a dead end.

Nearly twenty years on from those events, we're still here, and Dinkville is long gone. I tried to tell people- you can't build a forum on a personal grudge. In the long run, nobody really cares about that crap.

"Forum Wars".

I was a veteran from the days of the "Forum Wars", "eGroups" before the Yahoo Bitzkrieg that assimilated them, and later "public forums" (by private people), and the splits, the takeovers, the (un)Civel Wars the killed or ran off the best, and the "death" of so many interests as MyPage, then FaceBook and the garbage that passes of for "quality civil discourse".
I managed and modded for several, a lot of fun, and a lot of not so much fun after a while.

At first, hopeful that many good people came together, many of varied mindsets and worldviews and more having their horizons brodened.

And then came the dark side, and the horizons were narrowed and diminished, and many fell to the ugliness that came...

We didn't know. We did not quite comprehend.

Thanks for the info. I kept in touch with some of the guys mentioned but after quitting Facebook I just lost track of everyone.

LDD's career took precedent over his work in the forum and he can't be faulted for that.
