The minute you start disrupting the lives of other people, and more importantly start tying up traffic, police need to be involved. How would you like your house to burn down, or live saving services be delayed because emergency vehicles were stuck or delayed due to a protest.

I'm pretty sure most states have 'Impeding traffic' laws that are a start point and I'm sure if LEO are creative they can find many more statutes to apply to protestors who block traffic.

There was a quick moment where one of the rangers used a taser in "stun drive." It does tend to take a person to the ground at the speed of gravity free fall. The "Block the Road" protests can have unexpected results on the so-called protesters. During the months when Portland was sacked bridges were closed by mobs. On one occasion one of the men stuck was a gangbanger. He got out of his car and asked to be let through and was told no. His response was to pull out a handgun and shoot the naysayer. Those who pull the stop-the-world do take risks.

IMO it would have been best if all the people at the blockade get together about 20 of the strongest and then carried that trailer about 1 mile into the desert. Then someone with a Milwaukee or Dewalt electric impact wrench can then remove the wheels from that trailer and pocket all the lug nuts. At taht point eave the protesters chained to that trailer and walk back to the blockade and clean up the site so traffic can resume. As for the protesters who aren't chained to that trailer hand them a half full bottle of water and tell them they are responsible for their comrades back at that trailer.

Shoulda simply hooked to the trailer, via hitch or chain, and dragged it down the highway with those idiots chained to it. You'd be amazed how quickly they find the padlock keys.

I spent 9 months dealing with crap like this on a regular basis during pipeline construction in my county. I can't tell you how many times I wished a local would have done the same thing to one of their roadblocks.

We'd spend hours carefully removing them from their "sleeping dragons" and even longer on the paperwork, so seeing those 2 guys standing there with the dragons on an arm and a "WTF" demeanor really made me chuckle.

I could write posts for PAGES about the tactics, methods of operation and mind numbing tales of my interactions with these "comrades", but I'll spare you from having to take an extra dose of blood pressure meds. Besides, these fools don't deserve any more of my time or yours. The only thing they deserve is to be forgotten.
