Fetterman: I Fully Support Partnering With Israel to Bomb Iran's Nuclear Facilities

Over the last several years and particularly since Oct. 7, 2023, Israel has felt isolated diplomatically. Perhaps most painful for the Jewish state has been waning support among American Democrats, once stalwart defenders of Israel.

A near-lone voice from the left flank of the party has been Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman. A towering giant easily recognized by his hooded sweatshirt attire, Fetterman has stood up for Israel time and again when other members of his party refused to do so.

When it comes to Israel, Fetterman is about as hawkish as it gets, willing to support it in its war efforts against Iran and its network of terror proxies, including Hamas and Hezbollah.

The senator is on his second trip to Israel in the past year, touring the country, including on a Black Hawk helicopter, meeting families of Israeli hostages as well as those who lost loved ones in the war, and taking in Israeli culture, including what he calls "some of the best food in the world."

This time he came on a mission organized by Relief Resources, an organization dedicated to matching up those in need of mental healthcare with the best available professional for their personal situation.

Fetterman, who was hosted with his wife, Gisele, on Wednesday by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife, Sara, sat down on Thursday with a small group of hand-picked journalists in Jerusalem to discuss Israel's war, his steadfast support for the Jewish state, and the U.S.-Israel relationship.

Support for military action against Iran

Fetterman was unequivocal when asked about taking military action to eliminate Iran's nuclear capabilities. "I don't think you can really effectively negotiate with that regime," he said, suggesting that using military force is the only option.

Pressed further, Fetterman said, "Oh yeah. Blow it up! Blow it up! I think we should waste what's left of their nuclear facilities."

When asked directly whether he would support the United States joining Israel in such an operation, he confirmed he would back "partnering with Israel in that way... [with] whatever tools from the U.S., I would fully support that. Yeah, so however you describe that partnership, I fully support it," Fetterman told JNS.

"I support that, and I think there is really a once-in-a-generation opportunity to do that after it's been demonstrated that Iran lacks the capabilities to really project their threats," he added.

Democratic Party's harsh stance on Israel

Throughout the interview, Fetterman expressed deep disappointment in members of his own party who have distanced themselves from Israel.

"My party has, some of them, chosen to back away from supporting Israel," he said. "I've always refused to pander to other factions."

He criticized Democrats who attempt to equivocate on the issue, urging them to "stand with civilization, stand with democracy."

Fetterman went on to suggest that "my party was punished" during the recent elections for failing to be "unapologetically supportive of Israel." He pointed to Michigan, a state with a strong Muslim community and a progressive, Palestinian-American Rep. Rashida Tlaib as one of the swing states that voted for President Donald Trump.

"How ironic... Does Rep. Tlaib just sit there while she [holds a] paddle and yelling during [Netanyahu's] joint address, when you helped elect Trump. Do you really actually process this?"

Sen. Fetterman to Trump: 'Destroy Iran's Nuclear Facilities'

Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., encouraged President Donald Trump to destroy Iran's nuclear facilities rather than wasting time trying to negotiate with "that kind of regime."

Trump has said repeatedly that Iran cannot acquire nuclear weapons. Late last week, he said he was in no hurry to launch an attack over the issue.

Fetterman told The Washington Free Beacon that Trump should forget trying to negotiate with Iranian leaders and take out the Middle Eastern country's nuclear facilities.

"Waste that s**t," Fetterman told the Free Beacon on Wednesday. "You're never going to be able to negotiate with that kind of regime that has been destabilizing the region for decades already, and now we have an incredible window, I believe, to do that, to strike and destroy Iran's nuclear facilities."

It was reported Wednesday that Iran has agreed to allow in an International Atomic Energy Agency technical team in the coming days to discuss restoring camera surveillance at nuclear sites, the head of the U.N. nuclear watchdog said, calling it an encouraging signal of Iran's attitude toward nuclear talks with the U.S.

Such news likely did not impress Fetterman, who dismissed the possibility that a military strike on Iran would lead to a regional war.

"And remember, all of these so-called experts were all wrong," he said. "You know, they've been saying for years and years Hezbollah was the ultimate bada** that kept Israel in check, and we can't move on anything beyond that."

However, the Iranian proxy group "couldn't fight for s**t," he said. "And Hamas, literally, are just a bunch of tunnel rats with junkie rockets in the back of a Toyota truck. And now the Houthis have been effectively neutered as well. So what's left? You have Iran, and they have a nuclear facility, and it's clearly only for weapons."

Fetterman commended Trump for pulling out of the Iran nuclear deal in 2018, three years after then-President Barack Obama agreed to it.

"Years ago, I completely understood why Trump withdrew from the Obama deal," Fetterman told the Free Beacon. "Today, I can't understand why Trump would negotiate with this diseased regime. The negotiations should be comprised of 30,000-pound bombs and the IDF."

Fetterman's remarks to the Free Beacon echoed what he said last month during his second trip to Israel in the past year.

"I don't think you can really effectively negotiate with that regime," he said, Jewish News Syndicate reported.

Pressed further, he said, "Oh yeah. Blow it up! Blow it up! I think we should waste what's left of their nuclear facilities."

Sen. Fetterman Says Sorry as Shutdown Deepens, Risks SNAP

Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., publicly apologized for the failure of Democrat senators to act and reopen the federal government.

Addressing CNN's Manu Raju Thursday, Fetterman said, "I'm apologizing that we can't even get our s*** together and just open up our government."

The shutdown has entered its fourth week as both parties in the Senate remain deadlocked over funding for the new fiscal year.

Fetterman warned that the halt is beginning to bite, pointing to the looming expiration of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits and the impact on working families.

"If a Democrat — you know, we're not allowed to just open this up, I mean, then our party has bigger problems than I thought we might have already," he said.

"It's like, that's not controversial. Pay everybody."

Fetterman described the inability to act as "an absolute failure," admitting that his wife's community food program is already seeing increased demand in Pennsylvania.

"My wife, Gisele, she develops the Free Store in our community," he said. "It distributes food three times a week, and her lines have already got longer."

"Now, I will encounter people that have no SNAP benefits starting on Saturday, and I don't have an explanation for them."

Fetterman's comments signal growing frustration among Democrats with their inability to break the impasse despite repeated calls to reopen the government.

The potential loss of SNAP benefits for about 42 million Americans has become a flash point, with food security advocates warning of serious hardship if the shutdown continues.

Fetterman emphasized that the failure to act is not just procedural but deeply personal for many on the ground.

"Imagine being a parent with a couple kids and how you're going to fill the refrigerator … when the things that they've depended on now is gone."

With no end in sight, lawmakers face mounting pressure to strike a deal before the shutdown's collateral damage grows wider.

Sen. Fetterman: GOP Not to Blame for ACA Subsides Expiring

Pennsylvania Democrat Sen. John Fetterman refuted liberals' claims that Republicans are to blame for Obamacare subsidies expiring at the end of the year.

Fetterman told NPR that Democrats themselves wrote the temporary tax credits into law and set them to lapse.

"Democrats designed those tax credits to expire this year," he said, adding that the party can still negotiate an extension but should not shut down the government to do it.

The comments undercut weeks of progressive messaging that pins the looming spike in Affordable Care Act premiums solely on Republicans and House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La.

Fetterman, who backed reopening the government in a late-night Senate vote on Monday, rejected that narrative and instead blasted his own party’s shutdown strategy.

As the shutdown dragged into its 41st day, Democrat leaders insisted they would keep the government closed until Republicans agreed to extend the Obamacare subsidies.

But Fetterman said weaponizing a shutdown to score political points with progressives was wrong, just as Democrats have long claimed it was wrong when Republicans did it.

"It's always been wrong for us to shut the government down," he said, arguing that holding agencies and critical programs "hostage" over a policy fight is reckless.

He pointed to the millions of Americans who rely on SNAP benefits and other federal aid that were being squeezed as the standoff continued.

The Senate passed a bipartisan deal to reopen the government with a 60-40 vote, after eight Democrat caucus members, including Fetterman, crossed party lines.

The agreement keeps the government funded into January and includes only a promise of a future Senate vote on extending the healthcare tax credits, with no guarantee that an extension will pass the Republican-led House.

Progressives erupted in anger, calling the deal a "betrayal" for not locking in the subsidies now.

Fetterman, though, argued that dragging out the shutdown simply to "make an argument" against President Donald Trump and the GOP, as some liberal commentators urged, was irresponsible.

He warned that extending chaos at airports and delays in key services just to keep up the pressure on Republicans would hurt ordinary Americans far more than it would damage Trump politically.

In the NPR interview, Fetterman also expressed confidence that Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., would keep his word on scheduling a vote on the subsidies later this year, while acknowledging that Trump and House Republicans will ultimately decide whether any extension becomes law.

"I do believe John Thune is an honorable man in the arena," Fetterman said. "For me, it's a choice of do you really want to risk the kinds of mass chaos that we are quickly descending in?

"And after 40 days, how much longer?

"And now it's a fact, too: Flying is becoming more and more chaotic, and that probably also means dangerous more than it should be.

"Yes, I want healthcare, but not to create this kinds of stress in our system."

Republicans have said the subsidies were made temporary to hide the true long-term cost of the law, and now that the bill is coming due, party leaders are seeking a convenient GOP scapegoat.

Sen. John Fetterman Hospitalized After Suffering Fall Near His Home

Fetterman suffered a ventricular fibrillation flare, a condition where the heart stops pumping blood to the rest of the body.

John Fetterman, the senior U.S. senator from Pennsylvania, was hospitalized on Nov. 13 after falling down and hitting his face due to a heart-related issue.

Fetterman, a Democrat first elected in 2022, was walking in the morning near his home in Braddock, Pennsylvania, a suburban area surrounding the City of Pittsburgh. Due to “a ventricular fibrillation flare,” a condition where the heart stops pumping blood to parts of the body, he became “light-headed” and then fell to the ground, “hitting his face with minor injuries,” according to a statement released by his Senate office on social media.
Fetterman was later transported to the hospital, likely by ambulance, and remains there.

“He is doing well and receiving routine observation at the hospital. He has opted to stay so doctors can fine-tune his medication regimen,” the statement reads.

“‘If you thought my face looked bad before, wait until you see it now!” Fetterman said in the statement.

Fetterman has long faced health issues and, during his campaign for the Senate in 2022, suffered a stroke and was hospitalized for many weeks. He previously served as the 34th lieutenant governor of Pennsylvania and has attracted attention for his refusal to wear a business suit, instead wearing shorts and a shirt in the precincts of Congress.

Believe it or not. I'm sitting here posting with a broken leg and a pill bottle because of just this condition with just that outcome. Went face first into my garage floor (actually, knee, then elbow, then wrist, then face) We'll see what the remedy is, but give the guy a break, figuratively. Stuff happens, even to Fetterman.
