Right, but he's more entertaining than 91% of the Democrats.

Should John Fetterman Consider Switching Parties? It Makes Sense, But There's a Catch

Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) has been the most surprising Democrat to me in a positive way. While he has moments that might make you roll your eyes, he’s generally one of the most rational Democrats in Congress. I realize that’s a low standard, but Fetterman has managed to challenge his party’s base by opposing some Trump nominees, resisting pro-Hamas rhetoric, and realistically assessing his party’s political landscape after 2024.

Democrats are not built for the long haul here, with their exclusionary, illiberal, and hyper-niche agenda that only makes white wine-guzzling liberal women feel better about their miserable lives.

Based on current polling, Fetterman’s support among Democrats in the Keystone State has collapsed. He gets high marks because Republicans are inflating his numbers, but he’s in trouble. Ever since he backed Israel during their ongoing war with Hamas in Gaza, he has been marked for political death, and now the time is ripe. I don’t know who will challenge him, but it’s going to happen:

Should he consider changing parties? It may not make a difference, as Republicans are likely to support a genuine conservative rather than a turncoat, to use a blunt term. The late Arlen Specter attempted to switch parties in 2010, switching from Republican to Democrat, to preserve his career; he even acknowledged it. However, it was unsuccessful.

There’s no way John Fetterman will become a Republican, it’s never gonna happen.

Agree. He's found his nitch. He sounds reasonable but he votes with the fools every time. Keeps him in the news cycle and makes good sound bites for Fox news.

When the dem party is so far out of touch leftist that someone like Fetterman appears reasonable or centrist, it proves how far gone the democrats are.
I have seen a lot of on line commentary that the dems are screwed ( and I would be delighted if it were true) as a lot of the fan base is far left socialist/ communist, but the possible candidates of that league won’t come close to appealing to enough voters to get elected. Anyone who appears even close to moderate is reviled by the far left fan base so doesn’t have a shot either.

Found a niche? He may have no other choice if this is correct.

Personally, I find him more appealing than several "republicans".

^^ Well, he's certainly more appealing than Collins, Cornyn, Murkowski, Tillis and McConnell at this point, but it would be nice (best!) if we could get a Conservative Republican Senator from the Keystone State.

To God's ear, sir.

Most elections, Pennsylvania Republicans suck at actually voting.

Yup. This guy’s voting pattern speaks for itself. Over 90% of the time he aligned with the commies. Those who wish that he switches to the R side will regret it if he ever does. He will be just like the McCain and other RINOs, and more than likely worse.

What did Fetterman do when Trump asked who chose American citizens over illegal aliens during his SOTU? I heard 100% of the Dems sat in silence.

^^^ Yeah, that’s great, but, it doesn’t change the fact that he still voted with them almost all the time. What’s his position on the Second Amendment/gun control (AWB, high-cap mag ban, UBC, red flag law)? Taxation? Obamacare?

^^^^^^^

My point is that it appears that Fetterman, after shaking Trump's hand at the beginning of his SOTU, sat while Trump called out Dems.

Like it or not, there will always be be some Democrats in the Senate. Better a person like Fetterman, instead of another Cory Booker, Chuck Schumer, Bernie Sanders, Adam Schiff, Mark Kelly, or Elizabeth Warren, just to name a few.

Fetterman is today's (only) Joe Lieberman.

A reasonable man who we can disagree with but who can be counted upon to do what is right for our country.

I'd rather that there were no Democrats, but if he goes it'll be a shame.

John Fetterman Breaks from Democrats, Backs Markwayne Mullin for DHS Secretary

Americans hated President Joe Biden’s loose borders, Pennsylvania’s Sen. John Fetterman said on Wednesday as he suggested he would confirm Sen. Markwayne Mullin to the homeland security post.

“Americans don’t like chaos,” Fetterman said to Mullin, adding:

America definitely didn’t like the kinds of chaos during the Biden administration at the border. As a Democrat, I was alarmed that there were up to 300,000 encounters at our border once a month… That’s not sustainable, and that’s not manageable, and it’s making it impossible for us to assimilate [migrants].

“My experience with you has been consistent kindness and professionalism,” Fetterman told Mullin, adding, “I’m going to remain with an open mind throughout all this [hearing].”

Fetterman explained why he has broken from his fellow Democrats’ support for chaotic migration. “I refuse to punish and make our nation less secure,” he said, adding:

If you care about immigration, as I deeply do, you can’t possibly provide the American Dream for people when [a population] the size of Pittsburgh [is] showing up at our border once a month. That needs to be brought under control. And that happened [under Donald Trump]. I signed up as a Democrat [for] rounding up all of the criminals and deporting them. I can’t imagine why we can’t all agree with that as well, too.

I grieve for Renee Good, and I agree for Alex Pretti, but I also deeply, deeply grieve for Laken Riley and her family. Now all three were failures of our government there. I was proud to be the sponsor of the Laken Riley bill, because we have to address that.

Two things [should] be true here. We [should] have a secure border, and we [should] round up and deport every single criminal in our nation. I can’t imagine why that’s… controversial for anybody.

“I don’t understand why you would shut the entire agency down just because you want those kinds of reforms on ICE that have absolutely no impact on ICE,” he said.

And the Democrats ran Lieberman out of their party, just as they did with Tulsi Gabbard. There is no room for a moderate in the DNC. I will be shocked if Fetterman is not booted from the DNC after one term, if not sooner.
