My main concern is another stolen election, and then 9/11 style attacks. Also China will go after Taiwan. I am not worried about the left, the more they bring the cities and the country down, the more people will wake up to the lies and hypocrisy.

It is indeed strange, that our primary foe is our own government and the Dems trying to stay in power no matter what.

None that I can control. I grew up with the Cold War and the threat of immediate extinction. Schools practiced stupid drills and movies about the end of the world predominated. Many people built fallout shelters and there were the pics of the Japanese that survived Hiroshima. Like Livia Soprano stated, "It is all a big nothing."

Is it lost on you that you're quoting one of the most vile and cold-blooded characters ever in American fiction?

You don't value your life? You don't value the lives of your friends, your family, your neighbors, your fellow countrymen?

Nihilistic horse shit. If you think all is for naught, what are you doing using up oxygen and resources on this planet?

You get out of bed in the morning. Why? For what? Do you even believe what you're saying?

It might just be dangerous to be facing a bunch of pissed off old men who have nothing left to look forward to except gradual senescence in an old folks home.

Especially if the people they are facing are an existential threat to the nation that they spent their lives living and working in, and they don't want to leave a smoldering carcass of a Republic to their grandkids.

I don’t think it is so much one disaster as one triggering event that cascades into an unstoppable series of events like the reaction in a nuclear explosion. One smaller event triggers two more and those trigger four. Those four trigger eight etc. there is too much vulnerability in too many systems that rely on each other. My guess? If social unrest doesn’t do it first, economic collapse is waiting stage left.

No specific expectation or fear, just a desire for general preparedness come what may--within reason.

In recent times, we have experienced a terrorist attack on U.S. soil, killing thousands. We've had numerous smaller terrorist attacks since. We have govt. sanctioned riots in cities, burning down stores, auto dealerships, police stations, etc. and nothing is done to stop it. We have election fraud to disrupt the will of the voters, with billionaire oligarchs controlling communications, media, politicians, law enforcement, etc. We have a political divide not seen since the Civil War.

This ain't a "cold war" anymore. Far from it.

As has been alluded to already, an Iranian/ChiCom EMP or cyberattack that takes down the electrical grid. This kicks off major 5th Column terrorist attacks by those who were “welcomed” across the Southern border.

With the electrical grid down, the banking industry collapses causing total economic chaos not only in US but also in the Western world (Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Japan) and Asia.

A major natural catastrophe that has only been hinted at for over 75 years occurs; the New Madrid Fault sustains an 8.0+ Richter quake. This collapses bridges over the Mississippi River from Memphis, TN to St Louis, MO. The entire Mississippi/Ohio Rivers waterway system is now unnavigable until obstructions can be cleared and new bridges constructed. Coal, oil, and grain barge traffic is halted, further exacerbating the already stretched to limits trucking industry.

The FedGov attempts to control the situation through FEMA and the military, but is hopelessly outmatched. Nationwide Martial Law is declared, but with little impact.

Maybe I should lay-off those “end of days” fictional novels.

Now, serious.

Most every different threat stated, I also see as possibilities, and others.

Human nature as a stream never changes direction or manner, while its course may deviate, it always flows to the sea.

So, given history, we will have a time where "the fight will come to us" both individually and as a nation, all I can do is watch the flow and see when it threatens such deviation as to become prescient in my lifetime.

All I can do is prepare, keep my wits, and question/test everything I see and hear in the world.

Get them to add a few armor plates and one of those steadicam arm gun mounts, and you could take the lead in the Sigforum mechanized infantry.

You are in the ignored useless flyover country.

Try living in a city where the antifags were burning it and threatening folks in traffic.

Some of us didn't answer in the ammo thread for a reason.

I think something is coming but I cant say in what form it might be. A nationwide failure of our power grid (EMP?) would hurt us badly. I dont fear for myself, but I wonder what the future holds for my kid.

In terms of serious widespread violence which requires hunkering down with guns ready, there are a few possibilities.

For me, the natural disaster is the most likely thing we prep for. Guns are to defend our supplies and home. The second most likely situation would be riotous mobs across the nation whipped into violence by some event.

Hurricane Katrina showed us a natural disaster can quickly bring out the savages. Prep privately with food, water, and supplies so that you don't become the target of hungry people! The ice storm that caused a prolonged power outage in Canada was peaceful, so yeah it depends on where you live how bad it might get and how fast.

Locally then, a really bad weather event, earthquake, or other natural disaster could happen.

The BLM riots worried me greatly, as we were just one tipping point away from serious armed conflict across the country. Living in a nice town that is mostly white and wealthy, we would be a logical target for an angry mob looking to do damage. During summer of 2020 I took stock of our home and property to defend against a mob. This is the scenario I dread the most. Not highly likely, but if it comes to shooting at a mob to defend the homestead then there is no happy long term outcome other than being alive.

I do believe terrorist attacks are more likely than not, but I don't believe they will cause societal breakdown. Unless they set off multiple dirty bombs or even small nukes, but I think that is unlikely.

Financially we are headed to some kind of disaster. Most likely Weimar style hyper-inflation or a Great Depression. I think urban areas will see desperate hungry people getting violent.
