Just because something is legal to do doesn't mean it is the smart thing to do.

After reading the "How are you fixed for ammunition?" thread I have been wondering just what each one of you is thinking is a real possibility to happen?
I see a lot of zombie comments but wonder what you expect in reality. Also see bug out comments and realize city dwellers may have to but that is not much likely to others.
Are you expecting banning of firearms or what?

Dim's cheating again, and going hard on gun control and further eroding our God given rights, tax on ammo, etc.

Financial system collapse if things continue the way they are.

Terrorist EMP attack.

Local terrorist attack mixed with the protests popping up everywhere.

These are a few likely scenarios.

2020 2.0.

I lived between Seattle and Tacoma for that, and got out last year when the opportunity arose. I think we only needed one or two more dead black guys in the news for it to get spicy enough to be a problem for my family where we lived. It doesn't take a whole lot of imagination to see a number of possibilities where we get that, or worse in the coming year and then some. We live in volatile times. Hope for the best, prepare for bullshit and hijinx coming to your neighborhood.

I am, however, getting a kick out of the mental image of a buncha old farts suiting up in camo coveralls, slipping on their orthopedic shoes, and marching off with their rifle in one hand and their CPAP machine in the other to go "fight the commies" or whatever. Big Grin

It doesn't need to be anything as dramatic as complete societal breakdown to cause us grief. There are plenty of liberal rumblings about "banning" mail order and bulk ammo purchases. That alone is enough reason to be well supplied.

The disaster that gives me the greatest anxiety is the prospect of an attack on America by hundreds of terrorists that have gained entry at our lack of a southern border. One kid is at WVU, one in high school, and I can’t protect either of them if I’m not physically there.

There is a second half that I firmly believe is part of the bigger plan. The traitorous government in charge will use the ensuing chaos to try and enact legislation to come after gun ownership. They have become extremely brazen in their contempt for the constitution. However it plays out, our country will be fundamentally changed forever and not in a good way.

Those are all certainly possible.
Unless you're living under a rock you have to know that 'civil unrest' is increasing.
No matter how the election turns out, or how we are told it turns out, it's going to be a bumpy ride in some areas of this country.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Building on Sig4eva’s comments I’m reading the “fictional” account of an EMP attack. The book is called “One second after” and is a great eye opener on how a mostly unprepared civilization deals with something like that.
It’s part of a trilogy and I have the other 2 books waiting when I finish this one.

That’s also why I have a good supply of .22LR as small game doesn’t need much else…

I like shooting. Competitive, recreational, defensive training, teaching, etc.
My stockpile is so I can continue to enjoy my shooting and weather any storm be it financial, ammo shortage, infringing laws, etc.
It also doubles for emergency preparedness in the event of some other violent outbreak no matter what it is.
Those are my thoughts on it.

In order of likelihood and/or arrival time:
1. Multiple coordinated simultaneous terrorist attacks nationwide, even globally.
2. Several major riots in response to some worthless hood rats getting killified, possibly around the same time as #1.
3. EMP attack
4. financial meltdown due to slo joe and obozo's obvious efforts to destroy this country

any of the above will have our government attempt to crack down hard on gun ownership, which will not go well.

Anything from a sudden and widespread coordinated terrorist sleeper cell attack on American infrastructure and soft targets, to a lone meth head kicking in my back door at 3 am.

The 'summer of love' bullshit that the police infuriatingly tolerated without tossing all those antifa asshats in jail could easily fire back up next summer before the election.

If you consider how porous our southern border is, and how much China, Iran and various terrorists organizations HATE us. The implications are sobering. I'm not going to post any relevant details but America is a very soft target for 50 teams of ten terrorists each. And there could EASILY be orders of magnitudes more of them here, ready to wreak havoc.

Remember how the DC 'snipers' terrorized the eastern seaboard a few years back? That was two halfwits of marginal skill with no real plan or extensively driven motivation.

US Border patrol has found Iranian made Islamic prayer mats in the Texas desert.

I would wager a healthy amount of money that they have people here. The only real question is, what are they waiting for, or what is their plan and target date?

Certainly and EMP attack is not completely out of the question, Iran and China have explored this technology decades ago.

What is more of a concern is the general breakdown in today's society compared to 20 years ago, specifically the amount of violence by the left, how they could tear up a city at the drop of a hat, without interference from LE and politicians. Mob attacks in stores, in schools. To me, it is not too farfetched to imagine something on a nationwide scale, given the right circumstances and conditions. The societal divide in this country is staggering, nothing like it since maybe the 1850-60s.

When Gov. Jerry Brown signed a law banning internet mail order ammo purchases in CA, I bought cases, case after case for a few months, before the deadline. My UPS delivery guy was amused; he knew the many cases he carried to my door contained ammo, he used to joke about it. The law ended up being overturned by the courts (yet re-written and became law under Newsom), but even today in Texas, I still have a big chunk of that supply. And still buying more.

My father worked anti-smuggling in El Paso in the early to mid 90's. He was talking to, and catching bad dudes from Saudi, Iran, Libya, and Yemen, screaming up the chain about terrorists and they told him to shut up. They didn't want to hear it, they wanted photos of dope busts for the newspapers. He put in for a transfer in '97 and we went to New York. They've been coming through the southern border for decades. This is nothing new. DOJ didn't care about it then and they don't care about it now. My father was wrong about a lot of things, but he saw 9/11 coming from a long ways down the road, I remember his frustration and rage at times that nobody wanted to hear it.

A terrorist attack or two, in conjunction with China deciding to throw a little gas on the fire by hacking our grid and sewage systems and we're going to be in bad shape in a lot of places real fast.

There are those who will strike out against the US, which won’t ever change. The really sad change is the vast majority of our fellow inhabitants within US borders will welcome their new overlords.

EMP or other attacks against the utilities, ESPECIALLY the communications systems, will bring most of us to our knees. Blackouts in the news show just a glimpse of widespread mass civil unrest.

Take away Americans’ right to Door Dash hamburgers as well as other similar ‘rights,’ down on our knees we go to any entity, foreign or domestic.
