Restaurant That Booted Sanders Closes the Next Night

Virginia's Red Hen is besieged by those outraged, supportive of ejecting press secretary

http://www.newser.com/story/26...rs-got-the-boot.html

That business was mired firmly in controversy Saturday, with trolls of both flavors clogging the Red Hen's Yelp page (which now has two stars), its reservation line, and even shouting from the sidewalk in Lexington. The restaurant opted not to open Saturday night, writing in an email that "We would like to avoid exposing our patrons to any potential unpleasantness from outside entities."

Bet this commie bitch did not expect the shit storm she has brought upon her business.

The restaurant is 150 miles from DC. A group of REP congressmen should show up wearing MAGA hats.

or even the Trump family.

I wonder if she's rethinking right now her choice to swoop in and play social justice warrior? She could have let Sanders party enjoy their meal, have $300-400 in the register a nice tip for her server, and a peaceful weekend. Instead she's fighting trolls on the internet, dealing with reporters, and lost at least a full days worth of business, not to mention the half of her customer base who votes Red.

According to WaPo she'd do it all over again. I think she might have been fibbing a bit when she said that. No business wants to be embroiled in controversy.

I hope her accountant tells her exactly how much this little publicity stunt costs her. I wonder what her business partner thinks of the stunt? Or the bank that bank rolled the operation thinks?

I think you're 100% correct. When you own a business you really should think your actions all the way through, especially when they involve politics.

Bingo.

And I'm sure her employees LOVE the fact that they lost a days pay. Or will she "give her fair share" and pay them anyway? I doubt it.

You know...I think I'm in your camp.

It's time to take off the gloves. This shit has just gotten out of control and adults need to get things back in line.

However that may happen, these children need to be told to shut up and grow up.

If that doesn't take place, I agree that this shit will continue to fester, become worse, and people are going to die.

I don't know how exactly to get it all done, but somehow or another, the media needs to be reigned in. They alone are responsible for keeping this pot boiling and they continue to turn up the heat. Yes, we have the 1st Amendment, but something needs to be done while respecting that.

I do not like road that we're headed down.

Yes, they'd like to reserve the serving up of unpleasantness for themselves.

In my mind what the media is doing is the equivalent of yelling "fire" in a crowded theater. They are HOPING for violence and are doing their level best to get it started.

You're right about the suppliers, of course, they should be left alone unless and until they themselves take a political side.

As to the rest of your concern, Dale Carnegie said we should speak in a language that our audience understands. Taking away the business that refuses to do business with us, seems a response they will understand.

And are we really better than they are if we lose to them, or are we better than they are if we defeat them? In either case, it's getting more bloody (their choice, not ours), and I'd argue that winning is better than losing.

Cut off their oxygen supply: Money. And you do that by simply ignoring them and persuading others to do the same. No viewers/listeners/readers: No advertisers. No advertisers: No money. No money: No shills.

I haven't watched, listened-to or read a Dominant Entertainment Media Billed As "News" source in months. More-and-more people I know, even those who do not necessarily share my views, or at least not all of them, are doing the same.

They can be stopped without infringing on anybody's rights.

Sarah Sanders was your patron and yet this entire fiasco was of your own making... by your unpleasantness toward your patron.

Ironic.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."
