Also add some basic med training and EMK.

I have yet to fire a shot in my defense, but have cracked my truck EMK on several occasions in my travels. A one day tac med class gives you basic skills that are invaluable.

Unless you know what you are doing and have received training, be VERY CAREFUL with those Thoracic pneumo needles.

Not recommended for the uninitiated.

I would not feel comfortable using that giant needle. I just hope someone is comfortable using it on me. Big Grin

My view is have the immediate stuff like a TQ or two (one for me, one for you lol) and a pressure bandage and some gauze. Maybe an airway and Asherman if you have room to squeeze them in. Anything more, I'll walk to CVS if it 'aint burnin'.

Always got my stuff from Chinook and have been happy.

Back to cleaning rifles.....

This thread is about much more than gear. Weapons and tools are necessary, granted, but I'm talking about vigilance and mindset.

I'll take a determined man with a lever action rifle over the most geared-out internet commando, any day. And so would you. A vigilant, determined man with a basic rifle beats all the doodads, hands down. What counts is between his ears.

Today I built an AR lower for a friend who previously was ambivalent about owning a weapon. He has been watching current events and has confirmed to himself there is a trend. He asked me last week unsolicited if I would usher him through the process. I offered him an extra CMMG lower parts kit if he bought a stripped lower. I also offered to assemble it for him. Out the door he will be into this about 160.00. Will get the stock and buffer tube parts tomorrow. From there, it is still cheaper to buy a complete upper locally. He may trip for the one I found at 325.00. If so, his build will have cost him 485.00 with some donated parts and labor.

What is most remarkable is his evolution from 'meh' to 'holy cats! Things are getting bad!! I need a rifle too, DF!!!' If this guy can see it and gets motivated, others are too, I'm sure. By the end of the week, he should be cleaning his own rifle.

Been taking Commando Krav Maga since the early spring. Started in a bootcamp and I am now a permanent student. Definitely feeling more confident and in shape. It really opens your eyes to the importance of situational awareness and common sense movements to escape deadly situations. Highly recommend the program for everyone. They have both womens and mens curriculums with some overlap of techniques. I feel stronger mentally and physically.

On top of that I have taken and continue to take defensive pistol and rifle classes.

Made some key purchases lately (photos soon) and I feel good about my preparedness in all forms....

If it won't matter in 5 years don't give it more than 5 minutes.

After watching a documentary on the Kenyan Mall Take Over, I added a pocket trauma pack to my EDC (Cellox bandage, tourniquet, and gloves).

I also cleaned and oiled my "truck" rifle along with rotating the ammo in the magazines. I am really thinking about upping the game for my "truck" rifle to the .308 caliber with an Atlantic Arms PTR 91 GI (with paddle release) and then throw on a recoil reducing modified A3 stock. I have another version of the PTR 91 and enough spare parts to almost build a few extra rifles. The great thing about the PTR 91 in a CQB mob situation, I could shoot one POS and then take another POS out with empty brass flinging out of the rifle at Mach 1. Also with the PTR 91 if I ever ran out of ammo, I could still use the rifle as a very effective club.
