But, as we know, everything is a conspiracy, of course. So, even though we can't figure it out because this woman is acting like someone who doesn't think five seconds ahead and who is driven by her emotions, we all know how deviously brilliant are all leftists. That means that this failure must be a trap! Obviously, there is some hyper-complex end game we can't figure out. The answer is we can never have the answer because these people are not puerile nitwits who live in a fantasy world. No, they are playing 3D chess and kickin' Spock's ass!

A trip to Taiwan? God forbid anyone in Government even consider flying to Hawaii and talking about the horrific devastation AMERICANS are dealing with on Maui. Mad Mad Mad

It’s really like the more powerful you are in Government the less you can display any affection towards Americans. Outright hostility is rewarded in many cases. It doesn’t seem sustainable.

I fully agree that there is a two class system in this country. Those in government, and those they are trying to control.

No surprise, two gang members have been arrested for the shooting of the 11-year-old in albuquerque. This was the shooting that the governor of N.M. referenced, when she tried to ban legal carry.

Shooting was not road rage as first reported. It was a gang shooting but the wrong truck was shot.

One thug when arrested had over 100,000 fentanyl pills.

She issued another PHO on firearms. This one includes organizing buybacks. She just isn’t going to stop.

I thought that on October 3rd, there was to be a further court proceeding regarding the original order. I haven't seen any news in regard to that proceeding.

Looks like she won one. A U.S. District has given the green light to enforce a public health order that suspends the right to carry guns at public parks and playgrounds in New Mexico’s largest metropolitan area.

The District judge making the decision was chosen by Biden. Appears he restricted the county ban but not the recent parks/playground ban. Stops one ban but allows another, same judge on both issues.

David Herrera Urias (born 1967)[1] is an American lawyer serving as a United States district judge of the United States District Court for the District of New Mexico.[2]

Early life and education
Born in Pecos, Texas, Urias was raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the son of Estella Urias and David D. Urias. He has two siblings.[3] He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of New Mexico in 1997 and a Juris Doctor from the University of New Mexico School of Law in 2001.[4]

Career
In 2001 and 2002, Urias served as a law clerk for Judge Vanessa Ruiz of the District of Columbia Court of Appeals. After his clerkship, Urias won the Fried Frank Civil Rights Fellowship.[5][dead link] From 2002 to 2004, he was an associate at Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson in New York City. From 2004 to 2008, he worked as a staff attorney for the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund. He joined Freedman Boyd Hollander Goldberg Urias & Ward, P.A. in 2008.[6]

Federal judicial service
On September 8, 2021, President Joe Biden announced his intent to nominate Urias to serve as a United States district judge of the United States District Court for the District of New Mexico.[4] On September 20, 2021, his nomination was sent to the Senate. President Biden nominated Urias to the seat to be vacated by Judge Martha Vázquez, who subsequently assumed senior status in 2022.[7] On November 3, 2021, a hearing on his nomination was held before the Senate Judiciary Committee.[8] During his confirmation hearing, he was criticized by Senator Marsha Blackburn over his affiliation with the ACLU of New Mexico.[9] On December 2, 2021, his nomination was reported out of committee by a 12–10 vote.[10] On December 17, 2021, the United States Senate invoked cloture on his nomination by a 45–25 vote.[11] His nomination was confirmed that same day by a 45–26 vote.[12] He received his judicial commission on January 14, 2022.[13]

On September 8th, 2023, New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham issued an executive order suspending the right to carry fireams open or concealed for 30 days in Bernalillo County. The order was met with widespread condemnation from gun rights advocates and even some Democratic politicians. Constitutional challenges were quickly filed against the order by gun rights groups. A week later, Urias granted a temporary restraining order against the governor's order. It is expected that higher courts will rule on the constitutionality of Lujan Grisham's order.[citation needed]

The logical thing for her to do is to make a decree that anyone who belongs to a gang that participates in criminal activities can no longer carry or own a gun.......

Getting out of control when the Governor can make these rules.

New Mexico governor details gun violence prevention efforts

"This will be a very strong public safety session," Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham said. "Expect to see assault weapons ban on my call."

Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham joined Senior Public Safety Advisor Ben Baker and Department of Health Secretary Pat Allen to provide an update on the state's public health order at the roundhouse in Santa Fe, New Mexico, on Monday, Dec. 11.

According to Lujan Grisham, 219 guns were seized, 2,490 arrests were made, 87 juveniles involved in gun-related crimes have been detained, 13 guns were seized from one repeat violent offender arrested and 439 guns were surrendered at a Gun Buyback event by State Police since the public health order went into effect in September 2023.

"Let me just state unequivocally, the public health order has been in effect three months and it's working," the governor said at Monday's press conference.

"We're going to keep this public health order in place until we see the same sort of dramatic end result, that we're seeing in this quarter when that becomes the norm. We are making sure people are being held accountable and our citizens are safe," Lujan Grisham said. "We have a lot more work to do, until kids, cannot access these illicit firearms, under any circumstances, anywhere, in this state."

"It should have been made painfully clear to every New Mexican this past weekend, where on Friday evening we had a tragic, terrible incident involving two juniors and an Albuquerque high school who had guns on a school property," Lujan Grisham said. "Far too many kids access guns, not just from an unsafe, unlocked situation at home or at a friend's home, but we have had bad actors and we put a whole bunch of behind bars who were selling these kids these unlawful firearms."

Gov. shares update on upcoming legislative session
Q (KOAT): Bennie's Law has made strides, but do you think it's enough at this point? We're still struggling to figure out how some of these kids are getting easy access to guns. What is your plan involving gun violence at the upcoming session? I know it's a 30-day session, mainly for budget, but this is obviously a problem that cannot be ignored.

Related: Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham amend public health order

Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham: I have to say I agree with you. It's why we have a public health order. Gun violence is out of control. Violence is out of control. Public safety and crime are out of control. I also want to put this in perspective for New Mexicans, it is out of control all across America. That is not to sound defensive or say, 'New Mexico's fine.' We are not fine. Any violence in our communities is not acceptable, but we are seeing the same terrible trend lines. But I have to say, we're the only state in America that is attacking it in this way. And I stand by it and we're going to keep doing the work to make it better and better.

Stay up-to-date: The latest headlines from KOAT Action 7 News

To your point, 30-day session, if I have such a thing as a ten-day session, it's going to be a lot of public safety. So, you already know I'm going to ask for more money for police retention and recruitment. I think the Bennie Hargrove law is working. I think that parents are clear that they have a liability here and that they have a responsibility both and they're now connected in the state of New Mexico.

I think where the secretary is likely to go is to do more in the context of education for parents and families. We heard some folks talk about the VIP, the violence intervention program at schools, grants from the Department of Health. I would also expect us to lean more into that. That's a very successful program. I want to give the city a shout-out, Mayor Keller, The West Mesa program, by all accounts, is very effective. We could broaden those efforts. We also want to do a targeted campaign to kids. One of the tips during the public health order in this quarter came from a student to an administrator at a school. We had a gun seizure out of school. I think we can do more to reach kids. Let's do that.

More: Violence Intervention Programs aims to address youth violence

If there's a strategy about the Hargrove Law, if we don't get the right adjudications because there's something that needs to be strengthened or clarified in that law, I am open to getting it on the call. I haven't heard from either the judicial branch or schools or the Department of Health or DPS that we need to do anything with that particular law, but there are others, including the extreme risk protection order that I do think needs to be strengthened so that we can hold as the public every jurisdiction accountable for prosecuting effectively and seizing firearms pending adjudications where that is both statutorily required, and it's the right thing to do so that you keep both parties and families safe during that process.

I don't think we need to do anything, but this will be a very strong public safety session. Every session has been so, but I want to make sure this momentum is felt by New Mexicans every single time we can get policymakers in a room to do the work we need to work to do so that we're all safer.

Republican Party of New Mexico statement
"The governor's unconstitutional public health order is a disgrace. How many of the new arrests are concealed carry citizens, and how many are recurring violent criminals who will be released back on the streets by her administration? The governor declaring and renewing her public health order is merely to distract from her lack of leadership in addressing crime. New Mexico doesn't need more gun laws or gun bans. We need to enforce the laws we already have, hold criminals accountable, and let police do their jobs." - RPNM Chairman Steve Pearce.

She has a super majority of Dems in both houses so she feeling confidant. The upcoming 30 day session is supposed to be about budget. There is a huge oil and gas tax surplus that can be used to help with some of New Mexico’s problems which are the worst in the nation. She can kill two birds with one stone this session. Keep the public attention on guns and get new laws passed and while the attention is on guns, redistribute the oil and gas surplus to pet projects which do little to alleviate problems in the state.

I worked tangentially with oil and gas in NM. Without the tax revenues from Lea and Eddy counties, NM would be in a world of hurt. From what I understand, oil and gas tax revenues fund 70% of education in NM. And yet she continues to piss in their boots. Ask anyone in southeast NM what they think of their governor.
