Did he ever pay the city back the money for the lost hours from the police detectives who had to sort out this mess?

Juicy's advocates claim no harm, no foul. But that is not the case. He damaged race relations which has ramifications unknowable since they are events in the future. He appealed to the dope class who do not pay attention and are driven by rumor and fables to rationalize brutality and murder for revenge. Some Imbram X Kendi of the future may take up the cause of Jussie, spin the events and rouse the ignorant rabble to burn, loot and kill. We've seen it historically. We'll see it again.

No. Juicy needs to do real time and it needs to be public and undeniable. Juicy's victims are incalculable. That he has already suffered is no reason to allow him to escape the true consequences. This was the rationale for the Menendez brothers appeal for leniency. Please let them off easy. After all, their parents are dead. Haven't they suffered enough?

If Juicy gets a lenient sentence we'll know the racism pendulum has swung far past the center to the extent that the guilty are acquitted in the face of their victims as was the case in the deep South during Jim Crow. The shame is the same. The roles reversed.

Well said Darthfuster and very similar to my thoughts but make no mistake about it, the chances of Smollett actually doing any time are slim and none. Don't forget that this crime occurred in a city where being charged with murder gets you an I Bond ( personal recognizance ) or at the very least, electronic home monitoring which the system has ensured is unenforced. This crime occurred in a city where two opposing gangs can engage in a shootout on the street in broad daylight all of which is captured on video and the cities only response is to say that they won't charge them because it was "mutual combat". No sir, I would be shocked if Smolett did one minute in jail.

This is a good example of why the current black "leaders" are total failures.

They don't recognize or acknowledge that fake hate crimes (like Smollett did) cause anger and racial ill feelings - on both sides of black and white.

Fake hate crimes lower racial harmony and makes trust from either side almost nonexistent.

The fact that all these "leaders" kept defending Smollett, even after it became apparent it was all a set up and fabricated incident, then destroys any credibility these leaders ever had.

That is a big problem today. Current black leaders have no credibility. Why rally to support people who habitually lie ?

As usual, the demand for hate crimes far outstrips the supply. How can you maintain your status as "oppressed" if no one is actually oppressing you?

You can’t make money from peace and harmony; these grifters know it better than anyone.

If you think that lying little shit went to public school, you just don't know about the "New Royalty".

If you ask me, that's part of his problem- he was never confornted by those who don't think like his family. He was always told how very fucking special he is. That's why he thought the police, the news media and society at large would believe his incredibly clumsy story. He has no clue how thing really are, but he's getting a lesson now.

I've been looking online but I can't find the specific time. Let's see- Central Time, after lunch...

I'm guessing the earliest we'll find out is sometime after 2 PM Eastern

Odds are that he won't get any jail time, but either way, I'll be very happy. The jury could have very well nullified the verdict, but they did not. My hope is the judge will fine him the 130k the city spent on investigating his bullshit, and give him, say, three days in jail. Just a taste for ol' Juicy.

I imagine he'll have a chance to make a statement before sentencing, and at that time, he might admit his guilt but only in a bid for a lighter sentence, but looking at this guy's behavior for the last three years, I think he'll never admit what everyone already knows. He says he plans to "restart" his career after all this is over. Yeah, I'm certain he'll get "sympathy" work, but he's messed up real damn good, so...

Here we go

No one on the prosecution side or the defense side is wearing a mask. The Judge is not wearing a mask, the bailiffs are not wearing masks, but Juicy is wearing a mask. It's almost as if he wants to hide his face. How puzzling, for an innocent, honest man. That is what he has claimed all along.

Judges do not like hearing, "With all due respect", especially at sentencings.
Smoke and mirrors at this point.

He will be presenting vailed testimony.

Can the judge just go ahead and deny the motion for a new trial now so we don't have to listen to this crap spewing from her mouth?

Hedley Lamarr: Wait, wait, wait. I'm unarmed.
Bart: Alright, we'll settle this like men, with our fists.
Hedley Lamarr: Sorry, I just remembered . . . I am armed.

Listening to the Defense, this crap is why most Americans hate attorneys. It's not about justice, it's about paid strategy/tactics to escape it.

I think the judge should charge her by the minute for wasting the court's time, especially since the defense's written motion to void the trial verdict was dismissed.
