The hernia operation is a piece of cake. I had mine done in 1988 as an out patient. They forgot to give me any pain killers and I was hurting bad so I spent about four hours in recovery.

Prayers sent again. I've been the hernia route (inguinal, December 2013, great result), got my fingers crossed for you.

Once my surgeries are over and I am placed in the private room for my few days stay, it is my sincere hope that the floor nurse's name is not going to be Nurse Ratched.

Otherwise, I may have to default to a different Nicholson movie and break out the "Here's Johnny" routine for real.

lbj, I'm still touching base and showing prayer support for you on a daily basis and for a few others here.

LBJ, I wish you luck on Monday and throughout this journey! I really admire the way you've handled this and appreciate the logical attitude and rationality that you've approached this with. You've shown a lot of character.

Rather than Nurse Ratched, I hope you get some young hottie. If you do, I'll hope you'll post some pics for all of us to enjoy!

Seriously though, hoping for a routine surgery and short recovery. Quick advice, post-op, the sooner you get up and moving, the better. Take whatever pain meds you need to accomplish this.

Hey man I'll be thinking about you tomorrow. I've had 3 major surgeries and on minor surgery in the last 2 and a half years and I'm still slamming a Mustang, I have faith you will too!

LBJ, as someone who has received "that" news, I don't believe there is any right way to respond to it. I tend to take the "How do you eat an elephant" approach.
