Rep. Jamaal Bowman Votes to Impeach President Trump

January 13, 2021
WASHINGTON — Rep. Jamaal Bowman will vote to impeach President Trump on Wednesday, supporting the bipartisan House resolution charging Trump with incitement of insurrection following last Wednesday’s attack on the U.S. Capitol. Rep. Bowman released the following statement ahead of the vote:

“President Trump has spent his tenure as an existential threat, and now he has incited an act of war that attempted to destabilize our democracy and murder legislators. He was never fit to be president. He must be removed immediately.

“Donald Trump led an angry and violent mob, who were armed with handcuffs and guns to kidnap and execute Members of Congress, towards the seat of the United States government. The Republican Party continues to make excuses for his seditious stoking of white supremacist violence and to urge the rest of us to pretend the attack last week didn’t happen. Impunity will only teach other aspiring fascists to be bolder next time. We must stand for a peaceful transition of power. We must stand for justice and accountability. Trump needs to be removed from office as quickly as possible and convicted by the Senate so that he is barred from ever again seeking high public office.

“But our mission after today is to remember that impeachment is only the beginning. White supremacy did not begin with Donald Trump. The hateful and violent ideology espoused by the mob who attempted the insurrection was not created by him. It is rooted deeply in our national history and identity, and it must be an urgent priority for all of us to dismantle the institutional and systemic racism that showed its ugly face on Capitol Hill last week. That includes a thorough investigation of why authorities who were responsible for defending Congress were unable or unwilling to do so.

“America claims to be a shining city on a hill. We will never realize that image while fascism, white nationalism, and oppression of working people continue to run rampant in our political, social, and economic systems. Impeaching Trump is a step forward. Let’s now continue the difficult work of building an exceptional country based on multiracial democracy — and of defending that possibility from those who wish to destroy it.”

Rep. Bowman is a deluded idiot. I hope he's a Democrat--I'd hate to think a Republican would be that stupid (but I know that some are).

Yeah, he's a democrat. His district includes the city where I grew up, Mount Vernon, NY (bedroom community for NYC). I left there 68 years ago, haven't been back since except for very brief visits.

Jamaal Anthony Bowman is an American politician and educator serving as the U.S. representative for New York's 16th congressional district since 2021. The district covers much of the north Bronx, as well as the southern half of Westchester County, including Mount Vernon, New Rochelle and Bowman's hometown of Yonkers

Here is Representative Bowman; if I passed him on the street I would take one look and think "politician":

Incredible that they didn’t get video footage of Trump doing that…

The license plates on those vehicles look like European Union, and since the “yellow vests” are a safety item, might be France.

Baltimore again

https://hotair.com/jazz-shaw/2...drug-charges-n477277

a 24-year-old woman named Jade Kala Johnson was arrested for suspected drug dealing charges as well as a gun crime

An assistant for Baltimore City Council President Nick Mosby was arrested on gun and marijuana distribution charges in Baltimore County earlier this month

Jade Kala Johnson, 24, has been charged with having a loaded handgun in a vehicle, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm while distributing drugs, among several other offenses.

She was released from jail Friday after being held without bond since her arrest June 6. She is being represented by the prominent Baltimore defense attorney Warren Brown.

Johnson allegedly had five ounces of marijuana packaged up for sale to individual buyers in her vehicle and the police could smell it when they pulled her over for a traffic violation and searched the car. There was also a digital scale, indicative of drug distribution. In a pleasant twist, Johnson apparently is the registered, legal owner of the 9mm handgun that was found in the center console of her vehicle.

But she did not have a permit to carry the firearm in a concealed fashion like that. Also, she had two 16-round magazines with her, one in the handgun and the other in the console. Those extended-round magazines are illegal in Maryland.

As it turns out, however, Johnson had a passenger in her car. Bernard Beasley Jr. was in the car with her and she was allegedly just “giving him a ride” and it was his marijuana. He’s facing all the same charges as Johnson, so that’s her explanation of how she came to be pulled over with drugs in the vehicle.

Ms. Johnson is reportedly a college graduate who has no previous criminal convictions. As such, neither the judge nor the prosecutor had any objections to releasing her on her own recognizance. And yet she somehow remained sitting in jail for well over a week before her case was processed.

The next twist in the story comes with Johnson’s employment status. When filling out a form ahead of her court appearance, she listed her employer as the Baltimore City Council. She said she had been working there for ten months and earned a salary of $50,000. But the Baltimore Sun could find no listing under that name for any employee in the public salary databases.

does she really work for Nick Mosby or not? He’s not denying it yet (in fact he’s not even commenting), but if she really does work for him, how is her employment status not in the public records? Is she working “off the books” in some fashion?

Fortunately for Johnson, Nick Mosby’s wife has decriminalized or simply refused to prosecute a number of crimes, including many drug offenses. But that does not apply to the city and state gun laws. That’s a fairly serious charge even for a first offense. Will the city wind up simply letting Johnson walk with time served and perhaps a bit of probation or public service? Particularly given her close connections to the highest levels of Baltimore’s government, surely people would erupt with cries of favoritism. But don’t be surprised if it happens. Given her first-time offender status, a sympathetic judge and prosecutor could easily make that happen.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Johnson is being represented by prominent defense attorney and Mosby ally Warren Brown

Brown said he was confident the charges will be resolved without jail time and said it was not "a big deal."

"In terms of doing a story on the criminal justice system, oh my God, you know, she is a minnow in a sea of whales," Brown said.

It was in Rome. Good on those people for dragging them off the road! I saw it on FB and somebody commented that was great, but here you’d get arrested for dragging them off the road. I responded “not in FL “.

Seattle Records Deadliest Month in Recent History after ‘Defund the Police’ Push

https://slaynews.com/news/seat...ign=daily-newsletter

Seattle recorded its deadliest month in recent history during August after the city’s Democrat leadership bowed to the “Defund the Police” movement and slashed the law enforcement budget.

The “woke” Washington State city is currently on track to set a 25-year record high in fatal shootings, according to police.

“This is one of our highest years, and we are on pace to exceed the last two years, and this has been a concerning trend,” Interim Police Chief Adrian Diaz said last week of fatal shootings in the city, according to King 5.

“We are passing our 25-year high that happened just two years ago.”

The Seattle Police Department confirmed that it recorded 11 homicides for the month of August.

Police data shows that August 2022 had the highest number of homicides recorded in a single month since at least 2008.

2008 is the furthest back on the Seattle Police Department’s Crime Dashboard can go, meaning it could be the highest number in decades.

The previous record in the city was nine homicides in June 2021.

Seattle had averaged roughly three homicides every August between 2008 and 2021.

This year’s August saw a roughly 267% increase compared to the previous 14-year average.

In 2020, the year that the city embraced violent Black Lives Matter rioting, Seattle notched its highest number of homicides in 26 years, at 53.

Last year saw 42 homicides in the city, while 2022 has already recorded 27, King 5 reported.

Seattle’s data on homicides follows a national trend from 2020.

FBI data show murders increased by nearly 30% in 2020, marking the largest single-year increase in killings since the agency began tracking the crimes.

The data shows murders disproportionately affected black Americans, at a more than 32% increase compared to 2019.

Experts have continually pointed to the far-left “Defund the Police movement, the pandemic and its lockdowns, and the Ferguson effect for the rise in crimes in 2020.

Seattle became a focal point of the defund movement in 2020.

During the summer of 2020, then-Mayor Jenny Durkan, a Democrat, announced that the city would defund the police department by $76 million.

The move came as violent riots and looting tore communities apart in Democrat-led cities across the country following the killing of George Floyd.

Other liberal leaders in the city, such as socialist Councilwoman Kshama Sawant, pushed for the department to be further defunded that year by 50%, or about $85 million.

As crime increased in the city since 2020, the police department in Seattle has faced steep staffing shortages.

The shortage problem has affected nearly all law enforcement agencies in King County, where Seattle is located.

Diaz told King 5 that the staffing shortages since 2020 have fanned the flames of crime in the city with fewer officers available to respond to calls and patrol the streets.

Seattle is far from alone in dealing with police staffing issues.

Across the United States, cities have reported more of the same since the 2020 riots that called for police departments to be defunded.

Philadelphia, for example, is bracing for at least 800 police department members to leave the force over the next few years while it’s already operating at 20% below its targeted staffing level.

And in Chicago, police reported the lowest number of employees in recent history at the end of March.

Experts are warning that law-abiding citizens are now paying the price for police officers being “demonized” by the “woke” Left.

“Unfortunately, we find ourselves in a very difficult time in American history in the last two years,” National Fraternal Order of Police President Patrick Yoes said at the Faith & Blue conference in Washington, D.C., last month.

“America’s law enforcement has been demonized by many.

“It has created a rift within this country and eroded the very trust of the institution and the profession of law enforcement.

“And we’re paying for it,” Yoes asserted.

“We’re paying for it in our communities with higher crime.

“And we’re also paying for it in law enforcement officers.”

Meanwhile in Minneapolis, our Attorney General (Keith Ellison) is hard at work going after the businesses that legally sell guns to bad guys…

AG Ellison's lawsuit alleges Fleet Farm negligently sold firearms that ended up trafficked

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison announced Wednesday that his office has filed a complaint against Fleet Farm for, they claim, negligently selling firearms and other charges tied to gun trafficking.

Ellison -- along with Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, St. Paul Mayor Melvin Carter, and Richfield Mayor Maria Gonzales -- addressed the media as he filed the lawsuit in District Court.

Ellison says in selling close to 40 guns to two people in the span of a just few months, the company should have known they were being resold.

In one instance, Ellison says Fleet Farm sold 24 guns to one individual in a four-month span in 2021. Seven of these guns have been traced to crimes or suspected crimes, Ellison said.

A completely irrelevant comment. Was the individual buying the guns legal to have purchased them? Are there laws in place that prohibit the sale of X number of firearms in a given timeframe? Sooooooo, is there any provable illegality in any of these purchases?

Uh huh. Ellison has always been a total POS, and this is just more evidence of that reality. Don't worry about the human filth stealing from and assaulting and killing everyday folks. Nah, grandstand and try and sling mud and go after gun dealers trying to operate with the web of stupid laws these morons put in place.

I work with two retired ATF agents. They have stories about certain gun shops that are well known to them. Their favorite is the guy who buys 50 Jennings pistol from a shop in the South. Because he collects them. Roll Eyes Puts them in the trunk of a car with out of state plates. And within 6 months at least half of the guns were recovered from crime scenes in New York City. And a few weeks after the first sale the same guy comes in to buy another 50 crap guns for his collections. When multiple traces keep going back to a few certain shops, red flags should be going up. Just like certain bars that have no problem serving alcohol to people under 21, there are some gun shops that are happy with as long as the buyer passes the NCIS check, they're happy. Even when there is a lot of suspicion.

The last few times I've been in a gun shop, there have been questionable people in there. And the staff were on top of it. Some guy's gal is buying her first gun. But everyone watching can tell it is for him, not her. Or someone who 'forgot' his drivers license when it is time to call in the NICS... Sometimes I feel they need to have comfy seats and popcorn at the LGSs to watch the shady patrons and the guys behind the counter turning the spotlight on them.
