“It’s gotta be more than a million.”
As a matter of fact, the Army Echoes newsletter I received a short time ago stated, “In October, the United States Army exceeded one million Retired Soldiers!”
Not just veterans, but retirees from one of the armed forces.

An Oregon court sentenced a BLM activist to 20 months in prison after he pleaded guilty to kicking a dazed man in the face. Video captured the moment when he kicked the man after others pulled him from a crashed car, assaulted him, and shoved him to the ground during an August BLM protest.

A court in Portland, Oregon, sentenced Marquise Lee Love , 26, to 20 months in state prison and an additional 36 months of probation after he pleaded guilty to assaulting a man during a BLM protest on August 17, KGW8 reported.

The conviction and sentencing follow a vicious attack on a man who had been pulled from his crashed pickup truck, assaulted, and pushed to the ground by people wearing “security” vests. The man crashed his truck into a tree after attempting to escape other BLM protesters, Breitbart News reported.

A video tweeted by journalist Andy Ngo shows Love running up to the victim from across the street while he sat stunned on the street. He then kicks the victim in the face — knocking him unconscious.

Marquise Lee Love, the Portland BLM activist who kicked Adam Haner in the face at a protest, pleaded guilty to third-degree assault & felony riot.

If the victim had been a member of the court, I somehow doubt the sentence would have been only 20 months.

How so? 20 months is actually really good for that. Usually, they get far less time than that.

To the point that I’m stunned by the amount of time he got. Look at the amount of time that Rand Paul’s attacker got.

Hating on the court is fashionable, but it’s the legislature that is at fault for making guidelines so lenient. Whether or not they are a member of the court has exactly Jack to do with it.

The appropriate penalty for this asshole would have been for him to catch a 45acp round center mass with a followup to the cranium. He could have killed or maimed the victim and he obviously didn't give a damn (per the video footage).

I like the way this guy thinks Cool

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has drafted “anti-mob” legislation that would expand the state’s Stand Your Ground law – a move that some worry would allow armed citizens to shoot and potentially kill anyone they suspect of looting.

DeSantis’ newest legislation comes in response to months of protesting that frequently lead to rioting this summer in Florida and across the U.S., following the death of George Floyd, a black man who died after a white Minneapolis police officer knelt on his neck for nearly nine minutes.

The legislation is an attempt to prevent “violent and disorderly assemblies” by permitting violence against anyone involved in the “interruption or impairment” of a business, reportedly described in the draft as being a burglary within 500 feet of “violent or disorderly assembly,” according to reporting by the Miami Herald Tuesday.

“It allows for vigilantes to justify their actions,” a former Miami-Dade County prosecutor, Denise Georges, who has worked with Stand Your Ground cases told the Miami publication. “It also allows for death to be the punishment for a property crime — and that is cruel and unusual punishment. We cannot live in a lawless society where taking a life is done so casually and recklessly.”

The draft legislation also includes measures that would make protesting which disrupts the public by blocking traffic, a third degree felony. The law would also reportedly grant immunity to drivers who unintentionally kill or injure protesters who were blocking traffic.

Additionally the law would allow the state to withhold funds from local governments that cut police budgets.

DeSantis, an ardent supporter of President Trump, who won in Florida by just over three points, reportedly submitted copies of the legislation to the state’s Senate Committee on Criminal Justice and the House Judiciary Committee, according to emails obtained by the Miami Herald.

“It’s clear that the Trump beauty pageant is still going on with governors and senators, who all want to be the next Trump,” Miami Beach Mayor Dan Gelber told the publication. “And the governor is clearly a very good contestant.”

Gelber, a former federal prosecutor, was also a critic of the Stand Your Ground law when it first passed in 2005.

DeSantis could not be immediately reached by Fox News for comment.

That came out in mid September.

Ironic that it is all of a sudden "news" (again).

I do not believe in co-incidence that all media is carrying it again, as if it is a "new thing".

Another brush stroke to paint the narrative of the Right as "eager for violence".

I expect AntiFA and Co. to spin up their "mostly peaceful riots" shortly.

Is there a thread about civilians (or LEOs) using deadly force to prevent looting?

The Florida Governor is proposing legislation to expand “Stand your ground” defense to include looting, among other things.

Here is the Proposed legislation:

https://www.flgov.com/2020/09/...ment-protection-act/

The Combatting Violence, Disorder and Looting and Law Enforcement Protection Act has three components, outlined below:

New Criminal Offenses to Combat Rioting, Looting and Violence

Prohibition on Violent or Disorderly Assemblies: 3rd degree felony when 7 or more persons are involved in an assembly and cause damage to property or injury to other persons.
Prohibition on Obstructing Roadways: 3rd degree felony to obstruct traffic during an unpermitted protest, demonstration or violent or disorderly assembly; driver is NOT liable for injury or death caused if fleeing for safety from a mob.
Prohibition on Destroying or Toppling Monuments: 2nd degree felony to destroy public property during a violent or disorderly assembly.
Prohibition on Harassment in Public Accommodations: 1st degree misdemeanor for a participant in a violent or disorderly assembly to harass or intimidate a person at a public accommodation, such as a restaurant.
RICO Liability: RICO liability attaches to anyone who organizes or funds a violent or disorderly assembly.
Increased Penalties

Mandatory Minimum Jail Sentence: Striking a law enforcement officer (including with a projectile) during a violent or disorderly assembly = 6 months mandatory minimum jail sentence.
Offense Enhancements: Offense and/or sentence enhancements for: (1) throwing an object during a violent or disorderly assembly that strikes a civilian or law enforcement officer; (2) assault/battery of a law enforcement officer during a violent or disorderly assembly; and (3) participation in a violent or disorderly assembly by an individual from another state.
Citizen and Taxpayer Protection Measures

No “Defund the Police” Permitted: Prohibits state grants or aid to any local government that slashes the budget for law enforcement services.
Victim Compensation: Waives sovereign immunity to allow a victim of a crime related to a violent or disorderly assembly to sue local government for damages where the local government is grossly negligent in protecting persons and property.
Government Employment/Benefits: Terminates state benefits and makes anyone ineligible for employment by state/local government if convicted of participating in a violent or disorderly assembly.
Bail: No bond or bail until first appearance in court if charged with a crime related to participating in a violent or disorderly assembly; rebuttable presumption against bond or bail after first appearance
