In companies that I was part of, Legal would be terrified of a lawsuit from the junior employee in such a relationship as they could claim they were sexually harassed or pressured into the relationship by their boss (the CEO in this case). That was always the biggest reason such a relationship was taboo in companies where I worked (the morality of them both being married would have been only a minor issue - the big concern would be the aforementioned legal exposure).

I'm betting she gets 7 figures to walk away and save Astronomer the embarrassment of her continued employment.

On the contrary, that Kiss Cam showing how happy she was in his arms might save the company major bucks. It suggested that she was a willing participant.

It would seem the real chore is finding another job if your degree/resume is as "Chief People Officer."

I have a business degree but never heard of Chief People Officer. Is that a woke form of HR?

It started with Southwest Airlines. Herb Kelleher felt human resources was too dehumanizing and felt his people were his #1 asset so he changed the name from human resources to the people department.

The job of Human Resources is to protect the company from its humans. The job of the Chief People Officer is to protect the company from its people.

Is his BoD more upset because he stepped out on his wife, or that he got caught in such an embarrassing manner?

I worked for companies that came up with creative names for HR. The best was "Star Search", yep that was what they called HR.
My problem is giving a benign name to an organization that refers to employees as "Human Capital". That term always rubbed me the wrong way. I was not and never will be Human Capital.

My other hot button was when employees were called "family". I ain't your kin, I just work here. The best quip I heard on the family term is this: When an executive refers to employees as family, count on the fact it's Dad talking and you are not getting the car keys any time soon.

Let me help you out. Which way did you come in?

It's called human resources because humans are a resource to be strip mined.

That said, what is that company's policy on romance in the office, and did the lovers sign the employment handbook that outlined it?

It used to be called Personnel, where the companies employment records were kept, then, it became HR, and the woke took over.

I prefer to describe them with the phrase "Two lies in 1 title" as they're neither human nor a resource.

Every 7 OR 8 years, I come across a good one but 90% of the time it's someone not smart enough or ambitious enough to work for the TSA.

^ Quote of the day here. Bravo!

(The Army sealed the deal for me a while back; saw a few crash and burns in this regard. Just crazy to even consider dating, romance whatever within the scope of work. I would also rule out any close friends or family of co-workers. Same for customers and key vendors. Too much risk of catastrophe. "Million fish in the sea")

It isn’t acceptance by any means. It’s this internet nonsense where people are delighted to root in someone else’s misery. These two clowns deserve it. Their spouses and children do not. I’m thinking of the children that don’t need this scar for the rest of their lives. The internet is big and tough until the spot light is turned on one of them.
