Yes, I'm sure you do have handbooks that are decades old that push diversity and equality.

But equality isn't good enough. These programs don't want to people treated equally. They want EQUITY. They want to discriminate on the basis of race. The modern Dem version is divisive and a step back for race relations.

Patriot is right: Equity is the gateway drug to critical race theory.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

One of my regrets in life was I was never allowed to join the scouts.... the Girl Scouts that is.... snuck into their camps a couple of times.... but never got to camp out officially....

probably one of the reasons I never made it to Eagle.

Equality = Everyone gets the same chance at a successful outcome

Equity = Everyone deserves the same outcome and in order to achieve this we must hamstring successful people because due to "race or something" they do not deserve their success.

Equity is part of CRT which is part of socialism

https://christiannewsjournal.c...eory-another-gospel/

Any "theory" preaches a child....or an adult for that matter is evil or wrong due to the color of their skin is racist.

"whiteness is wrong"....this is being preached around the country and corporations are embracing it because of ESG scores are rolling out here, already have them in the EU and it is easier to go along with this poison than fight it...WTF

an example

I did a Facebook (yes, I know, there's my problem) search of "Citizenship in Society" and there is broad based support and/or head nodding across BSA about this with some adults immensely excited about it and wanting to know where they sign up to be merit badge counselors. Sigh. The only resistance is "Why make this is a new required merit badge instead of adding a couple tasks in other Citizenship merit badges?" Evidently the total number of badges remains at 21, there is now one less elective badge required.

Good point.

It's been a way long time since I earned my Eagle, but when I read the OP this morning I thought, "they already had a Citizenship merit badge."

God bless America.

My son and I were extremely involved- and now we’re not. Even at the tender age of 11 he was questioning why Scouts were turning so bad (his term for leftist).

I’ll be changing my sig line when I find something better to write.

Scouts these days suck compared to what it was.

I’ve replaced being a Cubmaster with being “Cheer Dad” for my daughter’s cheer squad and help other kids other ways, and by being a better dad for my kids.

Scouts sucked up way too much of my life trying to run something I could no longer happily support.

I'm the Advancement guy for our Pack. I do the monthly Scout Book printout, do the online order, pick up the badges and pins and then give them out to the kids at the Pack meeting. Its a bit of work, but compared to all of the other junk our Cubmaster and Den leader have to do, I figure its a small contribution. It's had it's "moments" though.

Twice when handing out belt loops kids earned a kid got upset because he didn't get one and I tried explaining to parents to make sure the work gets put in Scout Book only to have other parents say "just give him one" which means give him some other kid's who wasn't there and then I have to figure out who didn't get one next time. Then there was the time when I needed to grab a couple extra Bobcat badges and cards and one of the Council muckity mucks with THREE rows of square knots was filling in said I couldn't buy any rank without it being a Scout Book entry that is uploaded. FOR BOBCAT, THE THING YOU GET FOR BEING ABLE TO RECITE THE SCOUT OATH, LAW AND MOTTO. So...we hand these out like candy, but make sure your paperwork is in order to track it .

Yeah, listen, "Maya" Roll Eyes - I know you're only fifteen and therefore you know nothing about the world, but, fuck off with your Goddamned "diversity and inclusion" bullshit.

I was just thinking the same thing, there is just no good news when it comes to the bsa. Everything I read just makes me want to keep my kids far away.

I was a Boy Scout. I wrote them off when they decided gay leaders could camp out with young boys.

Our service organization has helped with two Eagle Scout projects. This year the scout was building shifters. After a forest fire, people return and try to recover valuables from their burned homes. Shifters allow then to work through the ash and recover rings, etc. The scout designed the shifter, got all the materials donated, and organized a couple of other troops to build them with us.
Point is, there are still real scouts out doing good.
Some 115 were built and immediately were picked up up and sent to Western Washington.

For those of you with kids who may have been interested in scouts, look into Trail Life. It’s a Christian based outdoor group for kids.

Ask yourselves this. Why is this a required ’merit’ badge? And, why can these diversity principles not be part of the Citizen in the Community merit badge? Why must it have it’s own badge? Answer those questions and you’ll likely find that merit badges can now be driven by a political agenda which pollutes the value of them, the value of achievement and the value of being a scout.

I say the Scouts add this "merit" badge to their list...

"If you’re a leader, you lead the way. Not just on the easy ones; you take the tough ones too…” – MAJ Richard D. Winters (1918-2011), E Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne

"Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil... Therefore, as tongues of fire lick up straw and as dry grass sinks down in the flames, so their roots will decay and their flowers blow away like dust; for they have rejected the law of the Lord Almighty and spurned the word of the Holy One of Israel." - Isaiah 5:20,24

It's so obvious to 99% on here that there is no need for questions and answers.
