Thank you.

I don't get this attitude. We have been so grossly over taxed over the years people just accept it. Everything you buy every move you make is taxed or has a fee attached. We sold about 70% of our business back in 2017. We consulted with our accountant to navigate us through the sale and how the income from the sale would be taxed. My wife was actually in tears when we left his office knowing how much money the government both federal and state was going to take from the proceeds of the sale. I was fully expecting it and tried to get her to understand before we went there but the reality didn't hit until the accountant showed her the numbers.

Any little pittance they want to give back to me will be heartily and happily accepted!

Good news: I got mine today. Bad news: my employer announced a 10 percent pay reduction starting May 3 through at least end of Q2.

Same here. I will be spending a chunk of it at some local businesses. Big corporations (should) have reserves. Local businesses may be barely hanging on.

Last week I went to our local bakery when it opened and bought some baked goods, then added a $50 gift certificate. The owner came out of the back to tell me 'thanks'.

Some of us haven't been hurt so badly by the fallout from this spooky wee virus thingy. Others have been devastated. If you don't have a burning need for it: Why not pass it along to somebody who does?

That's what we'd initially planned to do. But it turned out the friends we'd thought would really, really need it should be ok, what with this and the state relief that's coming their way. So, instead, we're going to put it to the use for which it was meant, for ourselves--and the business upon which we're going to spend it.

The key to enforcement is to punish the violator, not an inanimate object. The punishment of inanimate objects for the commission of a crime or carelessness is an affront to stupidity.

Who says you can't use money as TP? That's probably what

I should have clarified. The attitude I don't understand is the "I don't deserve it" line of thought. Quite honestly we would survive without it as well but given the level of taxation I have paid over my years I will gladly accept what they want to give me without any shame.

Donating it to a worthy cause is something I can certainly understand.

Called the bank this morning. Has been deposited.
What will it go to? Most likely some bills, a new clothes washer, and a gun.

Same here. I honestly don't know if we're getting any or not as I didn't care to do the math. We're borderline but we have 2 kids so we might get $3.50 or so.

I'm not getting one, and don't need it, although I'm sure plenty of people do.

On another note, I went shopping yesterday at a mostly empty local grocery store. I told everyone I knew, "Shop on the 14th, because the Eagle shits on the 15th" Razz

After a major fiasco with my brothers account years ago I no longer have the govt have anything to do with directly accessing my accounts. Just consider, if they make a mistake on a deposit or withdrawl, it will be the worst nightmare of your life to deal with the federal govt to get it fixed. In the meantime you will bounce checks all over the place and be in a financial hell for months.

I'll wait for a paper check

Yesterday I had to go online and make sure I had money in my account to pay the auto shop. While moving money around, I noticed the transaction pending.

While we are not swimming in diamonds and jewels we are not in the outhouse either. I plan to use most of the money to help the small businesses/restaurants in the area try to stay afloat.

I also don't remember asking for one.
