Thanks, I'm sorry to hear that.

Now I really feel like a shit heel.

He has responded to my emails in the past, you might want to try that or calling his place of business and talking to someone at the parts counter.

If he didn't want to be pestered here, I seriously doubt he wants people calling him at work for free advice.

The OP knows what part he needs. He's not looking for advice, he's looking to buy the part. Appliance Brad owns an appliance store, that of all things, SELLS PARTS! Big Grin I'm sure he'd be glad to sell it to him if he has it.

The only other places I can think of to look for the part are used appliance stores, they usually have shelves of used take off parts.

This is the reason.

I have his email and the 517 area code phone number for his shop.

Brad is a total Mensch and has been overly kind to me on several occasions.

We first met at the second, first Michigan GTG at Firing Line range in Westland and then again that evening at a cool Cuban restaurant in Ann Arbor, where we all got together and Rightwire brought Ghey Cake. We had a huge amount of fun and made a great impression about gun people in an extremely liberal place. Most all of us were armed, as a matter of habit Wink

He helped me get my first automatic knife, when they became legal here, too.

If there is anything I can do to help, please do let me know.

We are really far out of town, but will do all i can.

My email is in my profile.

And FWIW he's been chasing a Sinn U1 fully tegimented diver stateside for about a year now with no success. I've been unable to help him find a nice used one. As much as he's helped others in the past, it'd sure be nice if someone can help him out. Wink

Watchbuys has them, just got a new shipment of blue dial versions.

Been eyeing them myself.

Haven't seen a post recently, Brad, hope you're doing OK. I have an older GE Profile Fridge, model number TPX21PRXDWW, and am experiencing my first issue with it. I need a Temp Control Thermostat, part number WRnineX521 I believe (sorry, my computer has an issue typing nines on the forum). It was discontinued about 4 years ago, but I was hoping you might know of a source that specializes in used or discontinued parts. Hate to trash the fridge over a $50 part even if it is 25 years old.

Anyone else with a source or workaround, I'm all ears. You'd think another Thermostat could be made to work, even if it doesn't look purty. Thanks

You also should be able to Google "appliance parts "in my area" and you'll find numerous appliance parts houses that can source it, it may be an after market part, but that's fine. Most of those places sell wholesale as well as retail.

Good luck to youl

I assume it was both with the second guessing part being the clincher. Shame but as they say, no good deed goes unpunished.

Years ago I needed a part for my washing machine. Brad helped and I called him to order the part.
He was very appreciative, said it was nice to actually have someone order from him after he helped them out.
He mentioned that all the advice he gave out, most folks used to order from somewhere else for cheapest price... I imagine that would be very frustrating.
If he comes back, please consider supporting him if he helps you.

There's an extra digit in that part number. That's a defrost timer, not a thermostat. Thanks, though.

I like the direction this thread is taking. Thanks, Para.

He and his son are good people and I enjoyed their posts on politics and guns. It was a shame to see them get disgusted and leave.

Should either, or both, choose to return to the fold, it would be good to see hand-slappings for anyone posting "Paging Appliance Brad." Something about that phrase always seemed in poor taste to me. The man isn't a fucking bellhop. Other members get the "white courtesy phone" treatment to check their emails, but somehow, someone thought it was cute to "page" this gentleman asking for free advice in an open forum like he couldn't, and shouldn't make money from his expertise and it stuck. That shit should probably cease.

If that’s the case, Hi Brad. Not sure that I ever joined in those threads but I read them all. When my buddy’s dryer failed I remembered and 30 minutes of his time and $24 in parts had him all good vs $75 bucks +parts/labor otherwise.

Chrono24 has a couple nice used ones. Two in the states, one in Canada

Keep an eye out at DavidSW as well. Sometimes he ends up with an oddball watch now and again. Heck, he has found some interesting things for me in the past. It may be worth calling him. He may know where to find one.

Just searching for the part number alone, it gets replaced by WG04F00201, which is now no longer available.

The WR9X521 has a 25" capillary

Here's a thermostat with a 26" capillary (WP819470).
Temp range for 17-36 degrees F
If you can figure out the mounting, you should be good.
https://www.easyapplianceparts...NEAQYDSABEgIF8vD_BwE

With more digging, you should be able to find a replacement which would be a direct mount.

These folks do a good job. It’s a good place to start. Some of the manufacturers have the break down for parts as well. Then shop price ....

You know, I get why he left, but I can't help but wonder if he could come back as just plain ol' Brad-the-swell-guy-from-Michigan?

He had a lot more to offer than just appliance advice.
