Since this thread went quiet, the draft of the Mississippi abortion ruling came out. It looks like the Supremes are going to overturn Roe V Wade. Does this change the premise of this thread. A lot of women will be steaming made at this.

Won't change a damn thing.

Agree May to Nov is a long time.

There will be other news cycles that dominate as we get closer. China takes Taiwan, Russia uses tactical nukes, Iran goes nuclear, Biden trips hits head & strokes out, Hillary Indicted ....

^^^ It ain't just what gets the media all hot and bothered, either. Other issues will play a role as well, whether they're as hyped as abortion or not simply because people live with those issues every day.

It is a while ‘til the midterms. A lot can happen between now and then. I have no idea what will end up happening. I know what I want to happen, but I just don’t see every single legislator on either side of the aisle who isn’t a real very small government Conservative being either voted out or recalled and tossed to the curb and replaced with a very serious small government Conservative. One can always dream, but mustn’t lose track of reality. Wink

As for President Trump, he did a damned sight better job than I ever could have. Yes, he is human and made mistakes. Sure, maybe he should have fired absolutely everyone in Washington he could and hired all non-swamp creatures (as if one could be sure who those were). Something tells me that there would be problems with that approach too. Confirmations would likely have been held up.

In my opinion, it was and is abundantly clear that he put American and the American people first. As a result, he got in the way of the standard Washington DC business as usual of lining their own pockets and maintaining their political power while caring not a whit what their actions mean for America and Americans. It is abundantly clear that this made him no friends on either side of the political aisle (at least as far as the politicians go).

As far as his direct, rough-edged approach, it did put some people off, and it did give the media and his political opponents (yes, I realize that’s redundant) something to twist and amplify to use against him at every opportunity. At the same time, there were a whole lot of us who really appreciated that he was direct, that he said what he meant, and that we could see that he was pouring his heart and soul into making things better for America and Americans(, and where he could while still putting America First, for the rest of the world too).

I firmly believe that the powers that be (on both sides of the aisle) stole the election and installed “Drooling Joe”, either by actively encouraging the cheating that went on or by not speaking up against it.

It will be interesting to see what happens this November and in November two years hence.

I’ll place a bet.

40+ seats in the house and at least 4+ seats in the Senate.
