Ah, Rubio and the child tax credit. It's for the children!

"In addition, $1,400 of the credit would be refundable, meaning that parents could get that amount from the government even if their wages were so low they did not owe income tax."

Didn't this policy of government paying cash for kids lead us to LBJ's "welfare babies"? How is this different? Please tell me it doesn't work like that!

The Republicans came together Friday to craft a tax cut bill that appears to have the backing of all 52 GOP Senators and nearly all GOP House members, virtually guaranteeing the measure will pass when put to a vote early next week.

President Trump did this earlier with his simulated battle against Vince McMahon. Much subterfuge is involved, including President Trump's simulated battle with AG Sessions, but "We the People", have already won this war to protect and maintain the Constitution of the United States of America.

Well, I hope they get it done, but from what I've heard I'll probably be worse off. I never married and have no children, so increases in the allowances for dependents doesn't help me. Most of my (major) deductions are from school tax and charity/church donations, and those are being eliminated. Maybe the lowering of the tax rate will help.

I thought you could deduct state and local taxes up to ten thousand under the new bill.

Correct, and they're doubling the standard deduction.

Between the doubling of the standard deduction and the elimination of the personal exemption fewer people will need to itemize there deductions. And but you still can if you benefit. It will simplify things for a number of people. But I don't think most people will see much change in what they pay.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

If President Donald Trump signs it before the end of the year, the new tax plan will take effect on January 1, 2018.

modern politics

I have obtained a copy of the Dems plan to resist the efforts of President Trump. It is a very detailed strategy to carry out the objectives of what they refer to as the Resistance Movement.

What follows is the step-by-step process by which they seek to attain their goals.

1) Boil water;
2) Drop of a handful of raw spaghetti into the boiling water;
3) Overcook the spaghetti;
4) Strain;
5) Throw the overcooked spaghetti at the nearest latex-painted wall;
6) See what sticks.

It's a miracle that they haven't managed to topple the government yet.

I must say that it was extremely difficult to obtain that copy. What with the array of counter-intelligence experts available at their disposal to cover it up.

I was under the impresssion that Ed McMahon had died.

I wish I knew. I guess I'll have to talk to my accountant to have some clue if I benefit from this bill or not.
