Well, if a qualified candidate for the Department of Education is defined by the those who preceded DeVos in the last four odd decades, then maybe we should reevaluate what those qualifications actually are. To wit, doing the exact opposite of what we've been doing may be the proper course of action. You know, like George Costanza when he decided to do the opposite, cause everything that comes out of the DOE is a failure. But those were qualified people to run the DOE?

That's right, Democrats. You're George Costanza. I recommend trying the opposite.

People are really going nuts.

A correspondent informed me earlier today

After the greatest game and victory in Super Bowl History, there is a group of Anti-Trumpers who are refusing to recognize the Patriots as NFL Champions because the Quarterback, Coach, and Owner are "friends" of President Trump.

Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown

You know what they call Super Bowl champions whose victory is not recognized by anti-Trumpers?

Super Bowl Champions.

Liberal judges are like biased sports fans trying to work as NFL refs. NFL rules clearly state a team wins on the first possession in OT if they score a TD, but as a Falcons fan that just doesn't seem fair, so I'm going to ignore the rule book and make up new ones on the spot.

President Trump had a meeting Tuesday with the countries Sheriff's and they presented him with a statue of the New Sheriff in Town. Big Grin

Feb. 7 (UPI) -- A group of U.S. sheriffs met with President Donald Trump at the White House to discuss a range of topics, including violent crime and drug trafficking.

The President spoke with the Sheriffs in the Roosevelt Room on Tuesday afternoon. During the gathering, he received a letter of thanks from the National Sheriffs' Association for executive orders he has signed concerning immigration.

I'm sure the media will be all over this tomorrow talking about how nice it is to have some law and order leadership in the white house. It's been gone for a while.

Yes. It is now on appeal to the United States Supreme Court; the last filing was in January of 2017.

The point was about what a Ninth panel can do. The judges are not all what some would consider leftist, activist loons.

There is fear among left-leaning supporters of the Ninth because it appears that President Trump will have the chance to appoint some replacements to the Ninth.

In the meantime, it is not true that the Ninth is incapable of rendering a well-reasoned, constitutional decision.

I just wanted to give an example. Indeed, many Sheriffs and Police Chiefs are following the concepts stated in the example I cited while things are on appeal. The fight is NOT dead in California or in the Ninth.

BTW, the fight to which I refer is restoring to truth and perception that courts, for instance, are not activist but neutral, reasoned and will not ideologically prejudge a matter.

I loved seeing this article today. These clowns in the media didn't "fact check" JACK SHIT for the last 8 years, but now all of a sudden, they sure are gung-ho to fact check every damn word this administration utters.
Roll Eyes

quote:

"We're writing about a president who makes quite a number of misstatements," said Glenn Kessler, the Washington Post reporter whose regular fact checks award "Pinocchios" based on the magnitude and brazenness of false claims. "This has increased our workload and increased the level of interest in fact-checking."

That there is hilarious. Where was this guy hiding all the past 8 years with lie after lie and untruth after untruth that spewed forth from his hero Barry The Wonder Putz?

Media fact-checking more aggressive under Trump

Trump White House Sends Smoke Signals Urging Justice Kennedy To Resign.

The Trump administration has quietly encouraged Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy to retire in recent weeks, sending signals meant to coax him into leaving the bench.

The signals have been delivered with the subtlety of a hand grenade.

The most clear indication came late Monday. The New York Times’ Adam Liptak, citing administration sources, reports the White House has identified Judge Brett Kavanaugh of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit and Judge Raymond Kethledge of the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, as the frontrunners for the next appointment to the high court. Both men clerked for Kennedy early in their careers, and are widely respected as serious and sober jurists. As such, the purpose of the leak is plainly to reassure an “embarrassingly dramatic” Kennedy, no doubt brooding over his retirement through comparisons to the greatest archetypes of literature.

The administration has also placed former Kennedy clerks in prominent posts throughout the U.S. Department of Justice. The president has named Rachel Brand associate attorney general and Steven Andrew Engel assistant attorney general, both alums on Kennedy’s chambers.

Judge Neil Gorsuch’s nomination tracks this strategy. In the first place, Gorsuch himself was also a Kennedy clerk, and — if confirmed — will become the first justice to serve concurrently with a justice for whom he clerked. The pick should be encouraging to Kennedy in a second regard. Though Trump has selected a deeply conservative judge to succeed the late Justice Antonin Scalia, he has also selected a serious scholar whose disciplined jurisprudence has won the respect of left-wing legal commentators and scholars.

A tenacious pick, like Judge William Pryor, a firebrand of the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, would likely have troubled Kennedy, prompting him to do battle with the actuarial tables and wait out the Trump White House. In picking Gorsuch, Trump has signaled to Kennedy that he can trust him to select his successor.

Haha, nor I.

And I have to wonder if even one of those so called celebrities sends his or her child to a public school.

It's clear from their comments that they don't have a clue what they're talking about. Maybe we should go see what the poor minority parents in poor neighborhoods think of this change in the DoE.
