https://www.seattletimes.com/s...der-new-seattle-law/ After the Seattle Mayor signs the new legislation, everyone within city limits will have 180 days to lock up all guns in their residence. City of Edmonds to follow. We'll see how many other cities in the "blue" part of WA will try to follow with simular legislation.

Too bad for Mayor Fuckhead and the rest of the bolshies that it's a violation of state law. I'm sure they'll use plenty of tax dollars to fight the lawsuits against it, then of course cry about how they got no money for all those homeless shitting and dumping used needles in the streets. ![]()

I wonder how many MORE cops will flee to other jurisdictions. You know, because crime will obviously drop off precipitously, putting them out of work... “Remember to get vaccinated or a vaccinated person might get sick from a virus they got vaccinated against because you’re not vaccinated.” - author unknown

“Each of us has the responsibility as adults to keep our kids safe,” Rev. Andrew Conley-Holcom, a West Seattle pastor, told the council before Monday’s vote. That's right - you keep YOUR kids safe and let ME worry about MINE. I don't need you or the Govt telling me what to do in my own home, asshole.

Yep... RCW 9.41.290 State preemption. The state of Washington hereby fully occupies and preempts the entire field of firearms regulation within the boundaries of the state, including the registration, licensing, possession, purchase, sale, acquisition, transfer, discharge, and transportation of firearms, or any other element relating to firearms or parts thereof, including ammunition and reloader components. Cities, towns, and counties or other municipalities may enact only those laws and ordinances relating to firearms that are specifically authorized by state law, as in RCW 9.41.300, and are consistent with this chapter. Such local ordinances shall have the same penalty as provided for by state law. Local laws and ordinances that are inconsistent with, more restrictive than, or exceed the requirements of state law shall not be enacted and are preempted and repealed, regardless of the nature of the code, charter, or home rule status of such city, town, county, or municipality. ______________________________ “I'd like to know why well-educated idiots keep apologizing for lazy and complaining people who think the world owes them a living.” ― John Wayne

San Francisco had a similar measure (Prop-H)(banning handguns within city limits) which barely passed by city voters only to have it overturned in court as challenged by NRA. Courts ruled that such gun bans could only be passed by the state, as they regulate firearms and not the city. SF city govt had to write a check to the NRA for $380,000 to cover their legal costs. I don’t fully understand the strong resistance to gun storage laws. Some people, not criminals, need encouragement or some sort of motivation to do the right thing. Not everyone is a responsible gun owner, are they? I understand there are bad versions of storage laws, no doubt, but I’m talking in a general sense. Do most of you store your guns in a safe or a secure gun-room? If not, why not? The reward for hard work, is more hard work arcwelder76, 2013

"Starting 180 days after the mayor signs the legislation, it will be a civil infraction to store a gun without the firearm being secured in a locked container." Does a house count as a container?

We have a similar law in FL but it's a state law regarding firearms in the home when minors are present. You are required to keep them under your control or, locked up and out of reach of minors.. http://www.leg.state.fl.us/Sta...ctions/0790.174.html
