I'm in the same boat right now, trying to think of something different that she will enjoy.

My wife isn't impressed with "things", and really doesn't have any hobbies, so it's tough to get her something.

Plus, were doing a big addition-renovation that she has wanted for years, so she stressed she didn't want anything....which makes it even harder.

Past years some of the things she's liked-

A morning champagne hot air balloon ride.

A weekend in the finger Lakes doing a winery tour.

I took old pics that my sons were in and recreated the same situations in modern day. She loved that, we had it made into a wall hanging and it was fun to do.

A weekend in Newport Rhode Island sightseeing and having dinner. (we were already going to be traveling to that area to see friends so extending the trip was inexpensive).

About 10yrs ago I gave her a homemade "coupon book" that any Friday nights that she wanted to have all her girlfriends from work to the house I'd cook for them and then drive all her (drunken) friends home. I like to cook and entertain so this has become a twice a month event.

Tough to shop for chicks, would be alot easier if I could just buy her a new watch or Glock Smile

If she likes the scent of patchouli. Then you might get this perfume for her “COCO MADEMOISELLE”. The wife is getting a bottle for Christmas as several months ago she and her sister were raving about it . So yes she is getting a big bottle. I have learned after 50 yrs to listen when she talks during the year for clues. Cause at our age we pretty much buy what we want as we go along.

Do you have plenty of nice bird feeders set up outside of your house?

What kind of gardening? Flowering perennials, annuals, or growing her own veggies/herbs? You might be able to purchase her a unique shrub if she’s into flowering plants, or you could get her some seeds from very unique types of veggies herbs etc. (heirloom style) - they might not be super expensive (stocking stuffer) but they would be from the heart and she would recognize that you were paying attention to what she loves. Naturally if it’s some sort of edible plant you’ll be expected to eat it with gusto when it fruits, so there’s that..

I cannot recall if you got her a birdbath with water movement, but if she likes to observe what’s in the backyard, there is nothing like moving water to bring birds in.

Someone mentioned a bird trip, that’s cool if she’s really into it and lives an active lifestyle, but if she doesn’t have a partner to travel with (you), it’s not always as fun. You have some beautiful gardens down there- perhaps a membership to the ritziest? Again, your involvement and attendance to the events they have is probably required for this, so depending on whether or not she’s an introvert - best of luck. Sounds like she and I have similar tastes.

Last year I bought my wife a Cobalt (gardening) tool bag and a good pruning clipper from Lowes. I also bought her lily bulbs and flower seeds from Walmart. She keeps gloves, all her tools and whatever else she needs in the bag. Might even put a bottle of water in there. I see that bag around the yard a lot in the summer time.

Among other things I'm giving her a thousand rounds of .22 WMR.

And no, I won't be shooting it, she will.

Para: check out Fisher Blacksmithing. I bought one of their hand made tools for my wife a couple of years ago and she loved it. Hand made in America, could be an heirloom type item they are very well made.

I buy a lot of my "birdy" stuff from Wild Birds Unlimited. A bit spendy, but top quality. Shop at a store near you or on line. In store is great. Walk in, tell them your situation and they will guide you.

Or you could go with a vacuum cleaner if you don't want sex for a year or two.

I am not going to be much help ... because after 40 years of marriage I know exactly what my wife wants every year. Just sayin'.

*Update ... wish I could help, but I know nothing about your wife or you. As such, the best I can share is a gift card with a significant dollar value. Smile

The dollar amount will determine the size of your dog house.

Warm Lounging wear - I was getting my Social Media Fix and up popped some Womens Fleece Stretchy pants. I showed my wife while she was gabbing on the phone, she smiled and gave me a thumbs up - Two mins later - Order completed and will be here by the 22nd. What a break.

We don't really buy gifts anymore. Not in this sense. For example, my wife doesn't shoot and would have no idea what shooting item to get me. I don't garden and have no idea what tool she would like. We just buy what we need when needed. Artificial gift time (holidays, b-days, etc), we just cook for each other (favorite dish or dessert) and/or give token gifts (cute mug or whatever).

ETA: we have felco, wolf and other name brand gardening tools. The most recent purchase that was night / day better than anything we've had before was a Silky Zubat saw. It makes branch pruning effortless and quick.

This is the second year in a row my wife asked for various scented soaps from Provenance Soap Works here in St. Charles, Missouri. You could choose some for her or get her a gift card online. Really nice products and equally nice and helpful proprietors. A special bonus is they aren't that expensive and women love them! And, they're made right their in their retail shop!

I note that many Forum members have locked on to your wife’s gardening hobby. If she doesn’t already have one, something like this strikes me a a nice thing to have: a combination seat and kneeler for gardening.

Jewelry from Dave,
Para I have found throughout the years anything to do with house cleaning, cooking and weight loss is not a good choice.
Look at what her passions are and make your choices from that. Does she like tea or coffee maybe a flavor of the month club.

I love gardening and I am 61. I adore really pretty good quality pots and the larger ones are pretty expensive. I would also love gift certificates to good seed catalogues (one of my favorites is Renee’s Gardens) and bulb companies. You can order stuff and dream of Spring during the Winter. Kinda like making your list for Santa. If you have gift credit you are more likely to order stuff you’d like to try but might not work rather than sticking to the tried and true. Bulbs can be pretty expensive too.

Maybe a trip? Pittsburgh has a very famous Aviary. We also have the Carnegie museums which are definitely worth some time if you ever did go to Pittsburgh.

There may be great aviaries closer to you too.

How about an Aerogarden indoor hydroponic growing system? I don't have one, however I have been looking into them.
